The period romantic partition set love story Gadar: Ek Prem Katha which had created a rampage at the box office at the time of its release is now en route to back with its sequel Gadar 2.
Gadar movie was released in June 2001 and following a record number of footfalls at the ticket counter, the film had raked in around Rs 133 crores, which is equivalent to Rs 500 crores approx, if talk about the current time ticket prices.
Now, after 20yrs, its sequel was announced in Oct 2021 and began the shooting of the first schedule on Dec 1 at Palampur, Himachal Pradesh, it was wrapped up in the last week of Dec month, the news was shared by the main lead Sunny Deol himself through social media platforms.

Gadar 2 Controversy
Recently Gadar 2 stirs controversy when the team was shooting for the climax scenes in Lucknow, around 150 junior artists made a ruckus over the non-payment statement by the production house.
Further, the production house called the police to disperse them, later the director Anil Sharma over the issue said that they only needed 10-15 people which they had called, and they don’t have the idea how come this many people came over, says a report.
Gadar 2 Release Date
However, the filmmaker also said that everything was sorted out within minutes. The climax was being shot at La Martiniere College, Lucknow and if reports are to be believed we will get to see the iconic scene of Sunny Deol uprooting the hand pump, being recreated.
As per the latest reports, 80% of the shooting has been completed after the conclusion of the Lucknow schedule, known movie critic Taran Adarsh gave the news via Twitter. Gadar 2 will reportedly hit the theatres later this year.

Star Cast of Gadar 2
As Gadar 2 serves as the sequel of the 2001 blockbuster Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, the actors who will be reprising their roles in the movie are Sunny Deol as Tara Singh, Ameesha Patel as Sakeena aka Sakku, Utkarsh Sharma as Charanjeet Singh aka Jeete.
Reportedly other actors Manish Wadhwa (Pak Army General), Sajjad Delafrooz (Pak Army), Gaurav Chopra, Dolly Bindra (Gul Khan’s wife) will also be seen playing pivotal roles.

Anil Sharma bankrolled the film under the banner Anil Sharma productions in association with Zee Studios. Anil Sharma is once again in the
director’s chair, the story is written by Shaktimaan Talwar. On the technical front Najeeb Khan cranked the camera, Ashfaq Makrani is onboard for the editing and the music is given by Chandan Saxena and Mithun Sharma.
