Kiran Korrapati’s directorial Ghani was released in theatres on Friday with slow starts, scroll down to know the day 2 box office collection, screen counts, pre-business collections, breakeven & more.
Varun Tej starrer seems not fetching the kind of response that was expected from the film, the long-awaited film after having been pushed back many times, was finally released on 8 Feb 2022.
The film graced the cinemas at a time when the big-ticket RRR is already roaring at the box office, it clashed with the latter, on an opening day and managed to accumulate 535 theatres against the RRR theatre counts of 680 screens on its third week.
Box Office Collection
Talking about the reviews, critics panned the film by bashing the poor writing, story, and narration, audience also seems not interesting in the film, reportedly the film collected only around Rs 2.72 Cr shares on an opening day worldwide.
It seems the RRR storm and the negative reviews, have severely affected the film’s business, it is also not receiving the positive WOM either. Reports suggested Ghani failed to pull the footfalls towards the cinema halls, it accumulated only Rs 72 Lakhs on the second day Saturday.
The report also states that the sports drama will see more decrease in the collections on Sunday, day 3, so it can be construed that Varun Tej’s latest outing will not accumulate the double-digit on the opening weekend.
Business & Breakeven
However, the sports drama has already done the business of Rs 25.30 Cr against the breakeven of Rs 26.30 Cr, with most from the Andhra Pradesh Rs 9.50 Cr.
The film needs strong words of mouth which at least creep up the opening weekend to over Rs 10 Cr nett, let’s see how much the film churns out on the final day of the opening weekend.
Rajamouli’s RRR seems halting the business of Ghani, RRR is still the first priority of the exhibitors, as the sports drama is not managing to pull the movie lovers to the theatres, which resulted in the fewer show counts for Ghani.
Makers
Ghani is directed and written by Kiran Korrapati, and produced by Sidhu Mudda with Allu Bobby under the banner Renaissance Pictures and
Allu Bobby Company, On the technical front George C. Williams, cranked the camera, Marthand K Venkatesh is the editor and the music is given by S. Thaman.
The sports drama seems not going to make it big, if the BOC is concerned, the film needs over 20 Cr shares to cross the break-even which seems impossible now.
