Tollywood megastar Chiranjeevi’s much anticipated project Godfather was released on the occasion of Dusshera, helmed by Mohan Raja, known for blockbuster films like Something Something… Unakkum Enakkum and Santosh Subramaniam etc.
Billed as political thriller, the film is the Telugu remake of superstar Mohanlal starrer 2019 film Lucifer, which broke all previous record of earning and is currently the highest grossing Malayalam film ever. The lifetime collection of Lucifer is Rs. 175 crore.
The filming of Godfather began in August 2021 with filming taking place in Hyderabad, Ooty and Mumbai. Now film is ready for digital premiere after hit theatrical run.

The film created buzz ahead release because for the first time two superstars of Bollywood and Tollywood came together, Salman Khan’s cameo boosted it among North Indian fans.
Along with these two the film also stars lady superstar Nayanthara as female lead Sathyapriya, “Liger” director Puri Jagannadh, Satyadev Kancharana as Jaidev Reddy, Murali Sharma, Sunil,Brahmaji, Samuthirakani, Tanya Ravichandran and Gangavva.

Produced by Ram Charan, R.B. Choudhary, under the banner of Konidela Production Company and Super Good Films, the film has sky-high expectations on it since Chiranjeevi and Salman together.
It was released on October 5, 2022 theatrically, coinciding with the festival of Vijayadashami or Dussehra in Telugu along with dubbed Hindi version. Talking about the film’s post theatrical streaming rights, the film is in big demand among OTT giants.
In fact, its digital rights have been sold to popular streaming platform Netflix. It is learnt that the platform has bought the rights at the whopping amount of Rs. 57 crores. This deal includes Telugu and Hindi OTT rights of the movie.
The streaming date of the film revealed, mark the calendar ’19th of November’ Telugu & Hindi.

The film was not successful like Mohanlal’s Lucifer but Chiranjeevi fans liked the film.
