Tollywood megastar Chiranjeevi starrer Godfather Part: 1 is an upcoming political action thriller, which is a Telugu remake of Prithviraj Sukumaran’s directorial Malayalam film Lucifer.
Lucifer is the first installment of the Lucifer franchise and was released on March 28, 2019 and was also dubbed in Tamil as well as Telugu versions.
Currently, it is the highest-grossing Malayalam film ever, as it is the only film of Mollywood to earn Rs. 200 crore in total business.
About Godfather
The upcoming Telugu remake titled Godfather is directed by Mohan Raja who is known for directing his three consecutive commercially successful films M. Kumaran S/O Mahalakshmi (2004), Something Something…Unakkum Enakkum (2006) and Santosh Subramaniam (2008).
Along with directing the film, Mohan Raja also co-wrote the film’s story with Murali Gopy, who, in association with him (Mohan Raja) and Paruchuri brothers, also wrote the screenplay of the film.
The Pan-India film is jointly produced by R.B. Choudary, N.V. Prasad, A. Subaskaran, Mohan, Mohan Raja, Tagore Madhu, Niranjan Reddy, superstar Ram Charan.
It holds some of the big banners including NVR Cinema LLP, Konidela Production Company and Jayaram Company.
On the technical front, the cinematography is handled by Nirav Shah and editing of the film has done by Mohan along with A. Sreekar Prasad and Ruben while it has the music and background score by popular music composer S. Thaman.

Godfather Release Date & Teaser
Konidela Surekha is presenting the big banner film, it is set to be released on Dussehra 2022 (5 Oct 2022) on the big screens. The distribution rights are acquired by Super Good Films and Lyca Productions. LetsOTT reports that the film is a official remake of Malayalam Hit Lucifer and its OTT rights bagged by Netflix:

The film also features acclaimed actress Anushka Shetty, Shruti Hassan and Bollywood superstar Salman Khan in cameo roles.
The news of Salman Khan joining the team of Godfather is circulating all over social media and fans just can’t wait to see the two superstars of the Indian cinema sharing screens.

Godfather Filming & Production
The makers of the movie announced the upcoming Telugu remake of Malayalam film Lucifer in April 2020 with Chiranjeevi as the lead.
Director Mohan Raja who made his directorial debut with 2001 Telugu film Hanuman Junction, which turned-to-be the one and only Telugu movie he directed. However, after a long period of more than 20 years, he is back again to direct another Telugu film.
The shooting of the film began on August 13, 2021 and it took place in the outskirts of Hyderabad and the second schedule was filmed in September 2021 in Ooty, Tamil Nadu.
The film is under production and Salman joined the team which is currently shooting at ND Studios, Karjat, Mumbai on March 12, 2022.
Salman will appear on a dance number along with Chiranjeevi in the film and this news was confirmed by music composer S. Thaman who is composing the music in this film.
