The long-awaited and much-hyped Malayalam comedy thriller, “Gold” has finally hit the theatres. The film has created a huge pre-release buzz and that too without trailer and promotions.
Over 39K people have shown their interest in the film on the online bookings website BookMyShow. It is headlined by the Mollywood star Prithviraj Sukumaran and the lady superstar of south Nayanthara. The film is directed by the renowned director Alphonse Puthren(Neram and Premam fame).

Recent Malayalam releases Rorschach and Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya hey has done very well at the box office and emerged as commercial success. Gold is expected to continue the hit trend of the Mollywood film industry.
Gold-Tamil will arrive a day after the Malayalam release
Gold will arrive in cinemas in two languages Tamil and Malayalam. While the original Malayalam version of Gold hit the theatres on Dec 1, it is learnt that Gold-Tamil will be hitting the cinemas a day after the Malayalam release.
Earlier both versions were to release simultaneously but due to the dubbing censor delay, Gold-Tamil will release on Dec 2 Today, a day after the original version.
Gold Screen Counts and Pre-Release Business
Alphonse Puthren is a celebrated Malayalam director and has a huge pull among the south audience. His last film Premam ran for 200 days at a theatre in Chennai. Now, he is back with Gold after seven years, which marks his 3rd full-fledged film.
As per the reports, Gold has sold the theatrical rights for a huge 30 crores. The film sees a wider release in India and overseas. It has been released in 25+ European countries. It is also the first Malayalam movie to screen in Israel and Iceland.
As per reports, Gold has occupied over 1300 screens worldwide marking the biggest ever for the actor Prithviraj Sukumaran and for the Malayalam film industry post-pandemic.

Box Office Collection Day 1
Now, considering the huge pre-release business, Gold will have to recover over 30 crores distributor’s shares to emerge as a hit at the box office. For that, it needs a solid start with an upward trend in earnings over the weekend. And then continue the momentum through the week.
As per the early trade reports, the film opened with flying colors, it recorded an overall 32.54% occupancy rates across all the shows, morning (32.91%), noon (23.58%), evening (31.95%), and night shows (41.72%).
Now following this, Gold has taken a great start of 2.5 Cr nett in the domestic market, which is similar to his earlier superhit film Kaduva’s opening day collections. The movie has done it without the marketing and promotions, it is sure to grow in the coming days with audience word of mouth.
