Mollywood heartthrob Prithviraj Sukumaran starrer Gold is set to grace the theaters soon. Touted-to-be a Malayalam comedy drama film, Gold is written, edited and directed by the industry’s most celebrated filmmaker Alphonse Puthren.
With Gold, Puthren is making his comeback in the film industry after a 7-year long gap after his second film, the sensational blockbuster Prema (2015). His debut directorial was critically acclaimed Malayalam- Tamil bilingual suspense thriller Neram (2013).
Along with directing and writing the film, Alphonse Puthren has also worked on editing, stunt choreography, visual effects, colour grading and animation titles of the film.
Gold Star Cast
Prithviraj Sukumaran plays lead role as “Danger” Joshi S.whereas Lady Superstar Nayanthara is playing opposite him as Sumangali Unnikrishnan. Other than them, it also stars Ajmal Ameer, Krishna Sankar, Shabareesh Varma, Chemban Vinod Jose, Vinay Forrt, Roshan Matthew, Mallika Sukumaran, Deepti Sati, Baburaj, Lalu Alex among others, to play pivotal roles.
Gold OTT Release Date
The film backed by Prithviraj Sukumaran’s wife Suriya Menon under their Prithviraj Productions in association with Listen Stephen’s Magic Frames, which was originally slated to release on this Onam on September 8, 2022, has been postponed.
As per recent reports, the film got postponed at the last minute due to the delay in the completion of the post production work. Following this development, now speculations are rife that the makers of the film are planning to release it on September 15, 2022. However, the official released date is yet to be awaited.

Now, talking about the film’s streaming date, popular streaming platform Amazon Prime Video has bought the post-theatrical streaming date of the multi starrer project at a whopping price.
The gap between theatre and OTT release date is around 30-40 days. However, it remains to be seen if it performs well at BO or not, as it will decide whether the film would be available on OTT soon or would take some time to stream on the platform.

Gold Theatre & Satellite Distribution Rights
The film’s overseas theatrical distribution rights are sold to Truth Global Films whereas Tamil Nadu theatrical distribution rights are bagged by SSI Production for both Tamil and Malayalam versions. Also Magic Frames will distribute the film in Kerala . The satellite rights of the film have been acquired by Sun Network for all South Indian Languages.
