The theatres have been opened all around the country after the pandemic. Despite the fact, some popular filmmakers, whether from the South or Bollywood film industry are skipping theatre releases and are going with the OTT option, multiple releases at a time might be the one of reasons.
One more film has been added to that list and it is popular filmmaker Sidharth Sengupta’s crime comedy Good Luck Jerry. Sidharth Sengupta had helmed many projects in the past such as TV show Balika Vadhu and ALT Balaji series Apharan. Pankaj Matta is the show-runner of the film.
The film is Hindi remake of Nelson Dilipkumar’s 2018 Tamil black comedy crime series Kolamaavu Kokila that starred leading actress Nayanthara in the lead role alongside supporting star cast Yogi Babu, Saranya Ponvannan, R.S. Shivaji, Charles Vinoth and Hareesh Peradi.
Good Luck Jerry is produced by Subaskaran Allirajah along with Anand L. Rai and holds the banners of Lyca Productions, Colour Yellow Productions and Sundial Entertainment while the cinematography is handled by Rangarajan Ramabadran.
Good Luck Jerry Star Cast
The film stars Janhvi Kapoor, who is the daughter of Bollywood producer Boney Kapoor and late actress Sridevi, in the lead role. She is reprising the role of Nayanthara from the original (Tamil) version.
Janhvi was last seen in Hardik Mehta’s 2021 horror comedy film Roohi along with Rajkummar Rao and Varun Sharma.
Apart from Good Luck Jerry, she has more films in pipeline that include Karan Johar’s Dostana 2 as well as Takht and Mathukutty Xavier directorial thriller film Mili which will be produced by her father Boney Kapoor’s banner.
Actor Deepak Dobriyal who is well known for playing the notable character “Pappi” in both parts of romantic comedy film Tanu Weds Manu, will play a key role in the film. It will also feature Mita Vashisht, Neeraj Sood and Sushant Singh.
Plot of the Film
The story of the film centered around a happy-go-lucky young girl, who gets herself involved in a drug racket to earn money in a short time.
Unfortunately, the circumstances bring her entire family into the drug smuggling business. Lots of twists and turns came into her life that makes the film an interesting thriller.
Good Luck Jerry OTT Release Date
Rising young actress Janhvi Kapoor’s Good Luck Jerry (GLJ) starts streaming from 29 July 2022. It was decided that the film will skip the theatre release and will have direct streaming on leading streaming platform Disney+ Hotstar.

The shooting of the film commenced on January 11, 2021 in Punjab and was wrapped up on March 20, 2021.
