Govinda Naam Mera is an upcoming dance comedy film which is directed and written by award-winning filmmaker Shashank Khaitan who has also helmed films like Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, Badrinath Ki Dulhania and Dhadak etc.
The film was announced last year (2021). It is backed by Hiroo Yash Johar, Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta and Shashank Khaitan and holds the banners of Dharma Productions and Viacom18 Studios.
Govinda Naam Mera Opts for Direct OTT Release
From the past few months we are witnessing big budget movies turning-out-to-be big disasters at the box-office. Whether it is Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha or Akshay Kumar’s Samrat Prithviraj and Raksha Bandhan, none of these movies meet the expectations of the people and ultimately become biggest flops.
Now, as the industry is in shock due to the failure of such big movies, the makers are taking many steps to avoid these kinds of box-office failures. One of these steps is that they are sending no-theatrical films directly on the OTT platform.
Same goes with Dharma Production’s Govinda Naam Mera, which as per reports is indeed an engaging comedy entertainer but not exactly a film that is ideal for the big screens especially in today’s time, when Bollywood is facing boycott from the Indian audiences for various reasons.
Govinda Naam Mera was scheduled to be released on June 10, 2022, but postponed, now is confirmed for OTT release. Reportedly, Star Network has acquired the rights of the movie at a whopping amount of Rs. 62 crore out of which digital rights are valued at Rs. 42 crore and the satellite rights at Rs. 20 crore. The film will soon have a direct-to-OTT premiere on Disney+Hotstar.

Govinda Naam Mera Star Cast
The film stars promising and talented star Vicky Kaushal in the lead role. His last release Sardar Udham was also a direct OTT release on Amazon Prime and received widespread critical acclaim with all praises for story, directing and Vicky’s performance.
In Govinda Naam Mera Vicky is playing Govinda Waghmare with “Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2” fame Kiara Advani in the role of Vicky’s girlfriend and Bhumi Pednekar playing his wife in the film.
