As a part of their 2022-23 slate announcement, Amazon Prime Video unveiled the title of their upcoming 40 projects including 22 Fresh web-series, 4 unscripted series, 9 returning series and 4 Films in an event held at JW Marriott Sahar in Mumbai.
These titles include the return of some super-successful web-series like Pankaj Tripathi starrer Mirzapur, Jaideep Ahlawat led Paatal Lok, Manoj Tripathi starrer Family man, Jitendra Kumar led Panchayat and many others.
The streamer also announced the titled of some fresh web-series which also including ace filmmaker duo Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, popularly known as Raj & DK’s upcoming comedy series Gulkanda Tales, which marks the third collaboration between the filmmaker duo and Amazon Prime after their super-successful investigation thriller Family Man, which has also been renewed for its second season and Shahid Kapoor starrer Farzi.
Gulkanda Tales Star Cast
The makers roped in a highly talented star cast for the lead role in the series. Prominent actor Pankaj Tripathi is one of the lead stars of the series. Along with receiving a lot of praise for his performance in movies like Gangs of Wasseypur film series, Stree, Bareilly ki Barfi and many others, the actor has also established himself in the web world with his acclaimed role in the web series Mirzapur, Criminal Justice, Yours Truly and Criminal Justice: Behind Closed Doors.
After winning hearts with his iconic performance as Akhandanand Tripathi a.ka. Kaleen Bhaiya, the actor is all geared for his re-entry in the web-world with Gulkanda Tales. Along with him the series also stars actor Kunal Khemu who gained recognition for his notable role in Zee5 original crime thriller Abhay that has delivered its 3 successful seasons so far.
Actress Patralekha Paul, who got married to actor Rajkummar Rao last year is one of the leading stars in the series. She recently announced her upcoming biographical drama film Phule, which will be based on the life story of social reformer Mahatma Phule and his wife Savitribai Phule. Actor Pratik Gandhi will play the male lead opposite her.
Gulkanda Tales Makers
The series is created, written and produced by filmmaker duo Raj & Dk under their own production house D2R film. While it is helmed by filmmaker Rahi Anil Barve, who is best known for directing slipper hit supernatural horror drama film Tumbbad (2018). He is also serving as the co-writer along with Mitesh Shah. The dialogues of the series are written by Yogesh Damble and director Barve.
