Seeing the growing popularity of South Cinema, (which was once called a regional cinema), even in the North belt, Bollywood’s big production houses are opting for the Hindi remake of superhit South Indian films instead of going with an original script.

Now, another Hindi remake titled Gumraah, which is under development is all set to be delivered soon. It is the adaptation of Maghizh Thirumeni’s 2019 directorial hit film Thandam which starred Arun Vijay and Vidya Pradeep in lead roles with Tanya Hope and Smruthi Venkat in supporting roles. It was released theatrically on March 1, 2019, and opened to highly positive reviews.

It was commercially successful and became one of the highest-grossing films of the year in Tamil Nadu. The film has also been remade in Telugu as Red with Ram Pothineni in the lead role.

Gumraah is bankrolled by Bollywood’s one of the popular filmmakers Bhushan Kumar under the banner of his own production company T-Series in association with Murad Khetani’s Cine1 Studios. The film has been directed by Vardhan Ketkar who had also worked as the assistant director in Salman Khan-starrer Dabangg.

Gumraah Release Date

The makers of the film made an official announcement regarding the release date in early 2023, Varun Dhawan-Nitesh Tiwari’s combo Bawaal shifted from previous slot and now murder mystery Gumraah to hit theatres on 7th April.

Gumraah Star Cast

Based on a true event, Gumraah features actor Aditya Roy Kapur in the male lead role. The “Fitoor” actor will be seen in double roles for the first time in two completely different avatars with Jersey actress Mrunal Thakur as the female lead as a cop. The crime thriller will showcase an intense face-off between the two leads. Actor Roni Roy will also be playing a crucial role in the film.

Apart from Gumraah, Kapur is also set to star in another action drama “OM: The Battle Within”, which is set to release in theaters on July 1, 2022. The actor will be paired up opposite “Dil Bechara” fame Sanjana Sanghi while Mrunal Thakur has Aankh Micholi, Pippa, and Sita Raman in the offing.

The actors completed the first scheduled of Gumraah and began the shoot of its second schedule on May 10, 2022, finally wrapped up on 16th July 2022.
