Popular online streamer Disney+ Hotstar that in the past delivered many acclaimed movies and TV shows, is ready to come up with another exciting show Home Shanti, which is a family drama show. It is directed by Aakansha Dua, who has also written it in association with Akshay Asthana, Nidhi Bisht, Mayank Pandey, Nikhil Sachan and Saurabh Kahnna.
The series is produced by Amit Golani, Biswapati Sarkar, Sameer Saxena, Saurabh Khanna under the production house Posham Pa Pictures that is also the creator of the series. Subh Shivdasani of Bombay Film Cartel is the co-producer while Sameer Sexena is the executive producer.
The technical crew includes Dhirendra Shukla, who is the director of photography and Ashutosh Matela who is taking care of editing work, the film’s music and background score are composed by Shashwat Singh.
Home Shanti OTT Release Date
On April 25, 2022, the makers revealed the official release date of the series. It is going to be a summer-release and May 6, 2022 has been chosen as the release date. Home Shanti Trailer Out
The nearly 2-minute trailer which was released on April 25, 2022, follows a Dehradun-based middle-class Joshi family, who have been residing in government- allocated quarters for the past 25 years. Sarla Joshi (Supriya Pathak) is the principal of a government school and her husband Umesh Joshi (Manoj Pahwa) is a poet. The couple has two kids played by Chakori Dwivedi and Poojan Chhabra.
As Sarla will be retired from her job in three months, following the short notice to vacate their comfortable government- allocated quarters, the family is about to embark on a momentous journey to make their dream home, and each has their own specifications.
Home Shanti Star Cast
The slice-of-life drama has an ensemble star cast including some veteran and young actors. Veteran actor Supriya Pathak, who is best known for her notable roles of Hansa Parekh in poplar Hindi sitcom series “Khichdi” franchise and as Dhankor Baa in “Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela”, is playing as Sarla Joshi, a stoic, school vice-principal, a wife and mother of two children.
Talking about her character, the actress shared that the character of Sarla is completely different from what she played earlier, as she never played a teacher character before. Also, the character has a lot of dominance in herself as she is the person who knows her mind, who is more capable of handling things and taking care of the whole family.
Veteran actor Manoj Pahwa, noted for his role as Bhatia in the comedy series Office Office (2001) is playing Sarla Joshi’s husband Umesh Joshi, who is a comic Hindi newspaper columnist by profession. Newcommers Chakori Dwivedi and Poojan Chhabra are playing as the children of Umesh and Sarla. Happy Ranijit will also be featured in the key roles.
