Directed by Vijay N, Gurudev Hoysala is an upcoming Kannada cop-thriller, set to release soon. Vijay, earlier made his debut with Ganesh starrer Geetha, which is a romantic drama film and he previously assisted filmmaker Santhosh Ananddram as well.
Backed by KRG Studios, the film was announced in Sankranthi 2022. It takes references from real-life-cop-based incidents and addresses the flaws in the police station. The film was earlier titled just Hoysala, however, it was changed last year.
Gurudev Hoysala Star Cast
The film stars actor Dhananjaya, popularly known as Daali, in the lead role of a rugged police officer, Gurudev. It marks his 25th project in the Kannada film industry. The actor has appeared in several Tamil and Telugu films.
His recent release is Kannada action thriller Bairagee, which was directed by Vijay Milton and was released on July 1, 2022. He also played a crucial role in Allu Arjun starrer highest-grossing Telugu film in 2021, Pushpa: The rise, and will also appear in its sequel Pushpa 2: The Rule.
Meanwhile, Dhananjaya’s line-up of the film includes Thothapuri, Monsoon Raaga, Once Upon a Time in Jamaligudda etc and his most awaited Pan India project Head Bush directed by Shoonya.
Actress Amrutha Iyenger of “Love Mocktail” and “Popcorn Monkey Tiger” fame is playing the leading lady in the film. The actress was recently seen in Kannada action film Window Seat.
Gurudev Hoysala Release Date Out
On Wednesday, September 7, 2022, an official announcement of the release date was made by the production house as well as lead actor Daali on their social media platforms. It has been announced that this highly-anticipated film by the actor is set to be released theatrically on Mach 30, 2023.

Makers launched the trailer on March 20, 2023, 10 days before the release. The trailer left the fans intrigued, it grabbed eyeballs and was well received by the audience.

The film is being presented by Vijay Kirangandur whereas the music is composed by popular music composer S. Thaman. It also marks the second collaboration of Dhananjaya and KRG Studios. The trio has previously teamed up for Rathnan Prapancha, which makes the production houses’ debut. It is jointly bankrolled by Karthik Gowda and Yogi G Raj.
