International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 52: Nominations, Ceremony Date, Where & When to Watch

One of the most important film festivals of Asia & India’s biggest namely IFFI (International Film Festival of India) is going to see its 52nd edition this year in Goa.

It will be the first time in IFFI that the OTT (Over The Top) platforms e.g Netflix, Amazon Prime, Zee5, etc also going to participate, says I&B minister Anurag Thakur in an interview.

Talking about the show IFFI International Film Festival of India will start from the Mexican-Spain coproduction musical drama The King of All World on 20 Nov and conclude on 28 Nov with Benedict Cumberbatch starrer The Power of The Dog.

The Directorate of Film Festivals who presents the IFFI awards will institute an award in the name of former legendary filmmaker Satyajit Ray in the name of his auteur’s legacy awards name ‘Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement Award For Excellence in Cinema’ Reportedly it will be given to the Filmmakers.

When & Where to Watch IFFI

IFFI will be held in a Hybrid format like the earlier edition which means, it will happen face to face as well as virtual. being a hybrid some online Master Classes will also be held by Netflix, Sony Liv, 75 creative minds selected by the jury will attend the masterclasses with Industry stalwarts consisting of Grand Jury and Selection Jury.

Though there is no official announcement regarding its broadcasting channel, we can assume that the beginning and ending ceremony will be live broadcasted by the DD national channels like, as we know that the IFFI is jointly conducted by Govt. of India and Govt. of Goa. However, You can attend the festival virtually through IFFI Goa’s website


IFFI will also pay tribute to the late Dilip Kumar, Filmmaker Sumitra Bhave, filmmaker Buddhadeb Dasgupta, Surekha Sikri Tv actress, Sanchari Vijay actor, and some foreign actors.


There are 15 films shortlisted for the Golden Peacock Award from across the globe, and for ICFT UNESCO Gandhi Medal 9 films are selected. There are also many features and non-feature films that are going to be promoted in Indian Paranoma, in which 24 feature films are from India will showcase the diversity of Indian Films at screenings.

There will be a special screening of Dhamaka(Netflix), The Family Man and Sardar Udham(Amazon Prime Video), Vishal Furia directorial Chhorii will get an exclusive world premiere.

Awards & Prize Money

IFFI will bestow the following awards to the winners

  • Golden Peacock Award For Best Film: Prize Money Rs 40 lakh

Under the Silver peacock Category, there will be four awards

  • Best Director: Cash Prize Rs 15 lakh
  • IFFI Best Actor Award (Male): Prize Money Rs 10 lakh
  • IFFI Bes Actor Award (Female): Prize Money Rs 10 Lakh
  • Special Jury Award: it can be given to both a film or an individual, and if the film wins the award, Director will take it to home.
  • Lifetime Achievement Award
  • Jury Special Mention
  • ICFT UNESCO Gandhi Medal
  • Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in Cinema

In a recent interview given to PTI, I&B Minister of Govt. Of India, Anurag Thakur announced that Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement Award is given to American Director Martin Scorsese and Hungarian director Istvan Szabo, following this Indian Film personality of the Year Award is given to Veteran actress Hema Malini and poet, lyricist & Chairman of CBFC(Central Board of Film Certification) Board Prasoon Joshi.
