Directed and written by Chethan Kumar, James is a Pan India action drama film, which starred Kannada heartthrob Puneeth Rajkumar who died in October last year, came as a shock to the entire film fraternity.
It was the last film of the superstar and created havoc at the Box-office. Produced by Kishore Pathikonda under his Kishore Productions, the film opened to highly positive response with all hearts and praises for the late star, for whom the public gathered in masses in the cinema halls to watch their favourite star for the last time on screen.
In the film, Puneeth played the role of an Indian army officer Santhosh Kumar a.k.a James and his character has the Voiceover of his elder brother- actor/filmmaker Shiva Rajkumar. Apart from him, the film also stars female lead Priya Anand, Anu Prabhakar, Srikanth, R. Sarathkumar and many others.

The Pan India movie was released theatrically on March 17, 2022 on the occasion of Puneeth Rajkumar’s birthday and broke several records of earning. After having a successful run in theaters in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam along with Kannada languages, the film streamed on Sony LIV on April 14, 2022 in these languages.
Now talking about the Television premiere of the film, for the Kannada audience the film aired on July 17, 2022 on Star Suvarna. For Hindi-speaking fans of Puneeth Rajkumar, the film is expected to be aired on July 24 2022 on Star Gold at 8 pm. However, the official confirmation regarding this is yet to be made by the makers.

James turned out to be a blockbuster at the box-office and it was a perfect tribute to Puneeth Rajkumar by the audience. It records the biggest opening day collections for any Kannada film by grossing around Rs. 20 crore to Rs 32 crore on the opening day.
It grossed Rs. 100 crore within the 4 days of its release and became the second highest grossing Kannada film at the time of its release as well as the fastest Kannada film to gross Rs. 100 cr at the box-office at that time only be surpassed by K.G.F: Chapter 2 in less than a month. The film earned a total Rs. 150.7 cr against Rs. 50 crore.
