Karthi, who is currently enjoying the success of his last three blockbuster films, Viruman, Ponniyin Selvan: I, and Sardar, will soon return with his next ambitious project, Japan, which was earlier tentatively titled Karthi 25.

Karthi has tried his hand in the film’s of almost every genre including romance, thriller, action humour, horror and etc. Reportedly, the actor will go through an intense training as the upcoming project is going to be a mass action entertainer.

Japan will be directed by Raju Murugan, who is known for directing movies like Cuckoo, Thozha, Mehandi Circus, Gypsy, Varmaa and Joker (2016). The latter, which was a political satire film, won National Award for Best Feature Film in Tamil and the Filmfare Award for Best Film- Tamil.

Japan marks Murugan’s second collaboration with producers SR Prabhu and SR Prakash Babu, after Joker.

Japan First Look

The upcoming action thriller film, produced by Dream Warrior Pictures, was officially launched on November 8, 2022, with a muhurt ceremony.

And here’s the first look poster is out now:

The team shared the pictures of the pooja ceremony on social media.

As per the recent update, the makers of Japan will release the first look of the film today, at 5 p.m.

Japan Star Cast

The film stars actor Karthi in the titular role, and his last film to hit theatres was Sardar, which was a critical and commercial success at the box office, grossing over Rs. 100 crore worldwide. The US-based actress Anu Emmanuel of “Majnu” fame will play opposite Karthi in the film.

After Thupparivaalan and the 2019 blockbuster Namma Veettu Pillai, Japan will be her third Tamil film.Her recent release is the Telugu romantic comedy Urvasivo Rakshasivo. Along with Japan, her next big release is Ravi Teja starrer Ravanasura.

The technical team includes young and promising actor GV Prakash Kumar as the music composer, Ravi Varman as the cinematographer, and Philomin Raj as the editor.

Japan Release Date

Although there is no official announcement regarding the film’s release date, it is expected to be released in October 2023. Along with Tamil, the film will also be released in dubbed Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam versions.
