Directed and written by Vignesh Shivan, Kaathu Vaakula Rendu is a Tamil romantic comedy film that releases on the big screens on April 28, 2022. Apart from directing and writing the film, Vignesh has also served as the producer of the film along with his girlfriend and ace actress Nayanthara and S.S. Lalit Kumar under the banners of Rowdy Pictures and Seven Screen Studios.
If we talk about technical work, S.R. Kathir and Vijay Karthik Kanna while editing work in A. Sreekar Prasad. The film has a background score and music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander.

Kollywood superstar Vijay Seithupathi, who is called as Makkal Selvan by his fans is playing the male lead role in the film, plays the character named Ranjankudi Anbarasu Murugesa Boopathy Ohoondhiran alias Rambo. He was last seen in M. Manikandan’s Kadaisi Vivasayi.
Star actresses Nayanthara and Samantha Ruth Prabhu are the female leads and are playing as Kanmani Ganguly and Khatija, respectively. The film marks Samantha’s comeback on screen after 2020 romantic drama film Jaanu, however, she made a special appearance in the item number “Oo Antava Oo Oo Antava”, which became a massive chartbuster and Samantha was highly praised for her dance in the song.
Talking about Nayanthara, the actress has many big films in the pipeline for this year including God, Lion, Godfather, Connect and an Untitled GS Viknesh’s film.
Along with the leading star cast, the film also features former Indian cricketer S. Sreesanth as Mohammed Mobi, Prabhu, Kala Master as M. Idhayakala, Seema, Redin Kingsley as Arnold, Lolu Sabha Maaran and Master Bhargav Sundar.
Kaathu Vaakula Rendu Kaadhal OTT Release Date
The theatrical distribution rights were acquired by Red Giant Movies. The film graces the screens coinciding with Samantha’s birthday on 28 April. The OTT release date, likely to release on 20th of May 2022, only on Disney+ Hotstar (Tamil-Telugu).
The shooting of the film, which was supposed to take place in April 2020, was delayed due to COVID-19 pandemic. The team officially kick-started the shooting on December 14, 2020 in Hyderabad and was wrapped up on March 31, 2021.
Ever since the movie has been theatrically released, there are many speculations about its post-theatrical premniere, it will be too early to say anything about this right now because the makers have not made any official announcement regarding its digital partner, however, we can say the film could see its digital debut after 4 weeks stay in theatres.
