Directed and written by debutant Shree Karthick, Kanam is a Tamil science fiction film. The film is simultaneously shot in Tamil and Telugu, the latter is titled Oke Oka Jeevitham.
The film began its production in August 2019 with filming primarily taking place in Hyderabad and Chennai. Following an 8-month delay due to COVID-19 pandemic, the film completed its shoot in November 2020.

The film stars actor Sharwanand in the lead role as Kutlu and Amala Akkineni as his mother. Actress Ritu Verma plays as Vaishnavi, Ramesh Thilak as Paandi, Sathish Muthukrishnan as Kathir, Veteran actor Nasser as Rangi Kutta Paul, Ravi Raghavendra as Adhi’s father, Yog Japee as Michael Roy, Vaiyapuri and Jay Adithya as Young Adhi.

The film was released theatrically on September 9, 2022 and opened to positive reviews from critics. The film was praised in all aspects whether the performance of star cast, direction, story or screenplay. It was entertaining and engaging with brilliant interval twists. Also, it shows the beautiful bond between a mother and a son.
Produced by Dream Warrior Pictures, the bilingual film had a good start at Telugu as well as Tamil box-office. Reportedly, it did an overall Rs. 30-35 crore business worldwide.
Kanam OTT Release Date
Now, talking about the film’s OTT rights. It is reported that Sony LIV has acquired its post theatrical OTT rights. After having successful theater-run, the film is set to have its streaming on the platform. The date of streaming has been finalised. They share OTT teaser with release date ‘20th October‘ is the day it will be available on the platform at 12 AM, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.
