After the Hindi version, the Tamil and Telugu versions of the Kannada smash hit Kantara has been released. The flick has been garnering amazing reviews from all quarters and riding on stupendous word of mouth.
The Hindi version of Kantara was released on Oct 14, it saw a wide release and performed really well in the Hindi circuits on its first day and is expected to record growth on Saturday as well.

Box Office Collection Day 1
Kantara is facing a clash with Ponniyin Selvan:1 in Tamil and Godfather in Telugu, however, it has become the first choice for moviegoers in Telugu as Godfather has run out of its fuel at the box office whereas it is facing stiff competition with PS1 in Tamil which is not in the mood of slowing down anytime soon.
Kantara-Telugu business is valued at 2 crores and if Telugu trade reports are to go by, it has completed the breakeven on the first day itself. Reportedly, Kantara Telugu has taken a start of over 4 crores at the box office with 2.1 Cr+ shares. It clocked in Rs 30 L nett at the box office in Tamil Nadu.
The third Saturday has emerged as the best performing day for Kantara, it minted a huge around 14.50 crores, all versions, domestically. The total collections of Kantara now stands at Rs 92.64 crores, as per the trade reports.
Kantara-Telugu clocked in a huge 73L from the advance bookings for Saturday whereas it collected Rs 7.5L approx in Tamil.

Kantara Telugu Screen Counts
The Hindi version of the flick has taken off with flying colors and now the same is being expected from the Tamil and Telugu versions. It will soon release in Malayalam also, the Malayalam rights are bought by Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Prithviraj Productions.
Whereas the Tamil and Telugu theatrical rights of Kantara have been acquired by Dream Warrior Pictures and Geetha Arts respectively. Kantara-Telugu has occupied 305+ screens in the two Telugu states. It is reported that Godfather shows were replaced by Kantara in Telugu.
It has occupied 140+ theatres in Andhra, over 115 theatres in Nizama and 50+ theatres in the Ceeded area. The theatrical rights of the flick have been sold at 2 crores.
Kantara Tamil Screen Counts
Kantara witnessed grand release in Tamil Nadu as well, it has occupied over 100 theatres in Tamil despite the presence of the home release Ponniyin Selvan-1. It has been released in 13 theatres in City, Chengalpet-32 theatres, North Arcot-10, South Arcot-9, Coimbatore-20, MR Area- 9, Salem-9, IT Area, TK- 9.
