Written and directed by Rishab Shetty, the acclaimed Kannada hit action thriller film Kantara, is set to be released in other Indian languages, including Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam and Tamil, after winning the heart of Kannadigas.
The original version of the film was released on September 30, 2022, and received critical acclaim from both the critics and the audience. The film’s writer and director Rishab Shetty played dual roles in the film as Kaadubetta Shiva and Shiva’s father.
Kantara is the fourth directorial venture of Shetty after Ricky, Kirik Party and Sa.Hi.Pra.Shaale Kasaragodu, Koduge: Ramanna Rai, all of which were critically acclaimed and commercially successful.
Now Kantara, which has already emerged as a big blockbuster, is all set to join the list of highest-grossing Kannada films like KGF Chapter 1, KGF Chapter 2, 777 Charlie, Vikrant Rona etc.
Kantara Telugu Release Date Locked
As promised, the makers of the film are here with new dubbed versions of the film, following the success of the original version. The Hindi and Telugu trailer of the film has already been out and has been trending on social media since then.
Popular Tollywood Producer Allu Aravind has acquired the rights of the Telugu dubbed version of the film from Vijay Kiragandur’s Hombale Film, the producing house which has also produced the highest-grossing Kannada films KGF Chapter 1 and 2.
The film is set to be released theatrically in Telugu on October 15, 2022, and it will be distributed by Allu Aravind’s banner Geetha Films Distribution. Netizens are expressing their joy over the fact that the film is releasing in their native languages.
The advance bookings for the Hindi version have been commenced and it is being said that the advance bookings for the Telugu version will start from Thursday (Oct 13th onwards.

The film was released theatrically on September 30, 2022, and has turned out to be the biggest blockbuster. It received praise in every aspect whether the performance of the star cast, direction, screenplay, production design, cinematography, action sequences, soundtrack and musical score etc.
On opening day, it grossed around Rs. 6 crores and at the end of the first weekend over Rs. 22 crore collection of the film was reported. The film made on a small budget of around 15-16 crores has netted Rs. 65 crore mark at the Kannada box office so far. As soon as the other dubbed version will be released, one can imagine the record this movie is going to break in the upcoming days.
About the Film
Set in the fictional village of South Karnataka, Kantara brings alive the traditional culture of Kambla and Bhootha Kola. It is believed that Demigods are the guardians and their energies encircle the village. In the story, there is a ripple when a battle of ego swirls among the traditions and culture of the land.
In the conflict between humanity and nature, Rishab Shetty’s character Shiva is rebellion and is working against the latter. He engages in conflicts leading up to a war between the villagers and evil forces.
