Kindred Web Series 2022

Kindred is FX’s upcoming science fiction drama series based on Hugo Award winner Octavia E. Butler’s best-selling novel of the same name, which incorporates time travel and is inspired by slave narratives.

The novel was published in 1979, and Butler himself described it as “a kind of grim fantasy.” Now, more than 30 years later, it has been adapted for an eight-episode miniseries.

The adaptation’s approach is to spend more time on the science fiction point of the story instead of covering the entire book in its first season. Branden Jacobs-Jenkins serves as its showrunner and also executive produces the series with Joe Weisberg, Joel Fields, Darren Aronofsky, and Ari Handel.

Kindred Star Cast

The mini-series stars actress Mallori Johnson in the lead role as a young, Black writer named Dana Johnson whereas actor Micah Stock plays her White husband Kevin. Johnson is known for her roles in The Other Zoe and WeCrashed etc., whereas Stock last featured in the Disney+ historical drama series of 2019, The Right Stuff.

Along with these two, the series also features Ryan Kwanten as Thomas Weyline, Gayle Rankin as Margaret Weylin, Austin Smith as Luke, David Alexander Kaplan as Rufus Weylin, Sophina Brown as Sarah, and Sheria Irving as Olivia.

Kindred Trailer Out

FX Networks has dropped the trailer of this highly anticipated sci-fi series. The 2-minute long trailer introduced Dana Johnson as a young Back writer who moved to Los Angeles with her white husband Kevin.

While she tries to settle down in her new and promising life, she feels paranormal activities happening around her and finds herself being violently pulled back and forth in times. She emerged at the 19th century plantation, a place immediately lined with Dana and her family. It shows her struggling to confront secrets she never knew ran through her blood.

Kindred OTT Release Date

The series will premiere on December 19, 2022, and all episodes will be released at once. Produced by FX and Protozoa Pictures, the series will be released exclusively on Hulu in the United States.

It will be available on Star+ in Latin America and on Disney+ in other territories. Indian viewers can enjoy it on Disney+Hotstar on the same day.
