India’s Oscar 2022 entry, Koozhangal which translates in English as Peebles is directed and written by P.S. Vinothraj. It is a Tamil language movie that stars debutants Chellapandi, and Karuthathadaiyan. Known south Indian actress Nayanthara produced this film along with Vignesh Sivan.
It is made under the banner of Rowdy Pictures. Vinothraj said in an interview that the film’s inspiration is his own experience, as his sister married at a very young age and she had faced domestic violence.

This drama feature film revolves around a family, where a guy who is a drunkard often beats his wife. One day she runs off, from where the search of her begins. The director showed the story from the child’s view, as in a very little age, He has to go through family violence. following this his mother left him behind ’cause of his education, she doesn’t want his son to become like his father.
Koozhangal Release Date
It was premiered on 4 February 2021, at the 50th IFFR (International Film Festival Rotterdam), which held in the Netherlands. Yuvan Shankar Raja has given the music in the film. It is Edited by Ganesh Siva and Vignesh Kumulai and Jeya Parthipan handled the cinematography on the technical front. Koozhangal hasn’t been released in theatres yet.
