The film’s advance bookings had been opened and it did very good business on Sun as far as bookings are concerned. Earlier it was being said that it might take the best advance for original Hindi content post-pandemic beating ’83 The Film record. But the advances didn’t sustain from Monday onwards and it looks like it will remain below Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2.
As per Sacnilk.com, LSC has sold 52,835 tickets worth Rs 1.35 Cr in Hindi till Wednesday morning. Let us also inform you that it is leading in the advances against Raksha Bandhan which is facing a clash with the former.
Aamir along with essaying the titular role also produced the film with Kiran Rao, Jyoti Deshpande, Ajit Andhare and Rashika Chaudhari under the banner Aamir Khan Productions and Viacom 18 Studios. It is learned that the latter will distribute the film domestically while Paramount Pictures are the distributors overseas. Geetha Arts owned the Telugu states rights (Andhra Pradesh and Telangana) and Tamil theatrical rights by Red Giant Movies.
Screen Counts and Budget
As per a report of TOI, it is made with a massive budget of Rs 150 crore and will occupy over 3500 screens domestically (All languages). It will release in the theatres in three languages Hindi and the dubbed versions of Tamil and Telugu. It marks the Bollywood debut of the Tollywood star Naga Chaitanya.
Box Office Collection
Earlier the boycott trend used to benefit the film business, we have seen it with Padmaavat, Dangal, and Jodhaa Akbar to name a few, which emerges as a blockbuster at the box office. But a post-pandemic lot of things have changed, and audiences have become selective about what to watch or not.
Pre-pandemic, it was normal for a big star film to open with a range of Rs 10-12 Cr but in the current trend even touching Rs 5 Cr has become an uphill battle Jersey, Dhaakad, Jayeshbhai Jordaar, and Anek are examples.
In the current times, it is difficult to sustain at the box office if the content isn’t there, Shamshera, and Prithviraj, are the proofs that saw decent openings but fell flat after the weekend.
Amid this, “Laal Singh Chaddha” which is already embroiled in controversy, arriving at the cinemas. However, controversy or no controversy, the film will easily cross the Rs 10 Cr mark considering Aamir’s comeback after 3.5 yrs but to sustain at the box office for a long, will only depend on its content.
