The bilingual sports action Liger was released in cinemas on 25 Aug 2022. The film was shot in Telugu and Hindi simultaneously. It is directed by Puri Jagannadh and jointly produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and Puri Connects.
Liger stars Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday in the main lead roles. The film revolves around a young guy, Liger (Vijay) who has a stutter, the film covers his journey from an underground to becoming an MMA champion.
Vijay-Ananya’s film was released in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada. The film marked the Telugu debut of Ananya.

Vijay-Ananya’s film was opened with negative reviews from critics and failed to pull the audience towards the cinemas across the board. It had taken a good start at the box office but failed to sustain the momentum over the next three days of the weekend.
It failed to take advantage of the extended opening weekend emerging bomb at the box office. As per the trade reports, Liger accumulated 60.80 Cr at the box office against the budget of around 100 Cr. The film was considered one of the biggest disasters in Telugu 2022.
