Liger Box-Office Reports
The film had taken a roaring start in Telugu speaking states due to much-hype and popularity of Vijay Deverakonda. However, it got rejected by the Telugu audience on 2nd day itself as it wintessed a drop of over 80%.
The film took a good start in the Hindi belt as well and collected a decent amount through paid previews. It opened with Rs 4.5 crores in Hindi and raked in Rs 1.35 crores through previews, hence the total amount reaches Rs 5.8 crores.
The film made on a huge budget and has grossed around Rs 33.50 crores in two days. Far away from the break even target, Vijay’s film tanked at the box office.
The movie jointly produced by Puri Jagannadh’s Puri Connects and Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, is only supposed to be available on OTT after a minimum of four weeks after its theatrical release. It all depends on the film’s performance at BO. If it performs well, the OTT premiere could be delayed more than the estimated time.
Liger Reviews
The Pan India film was released in Hindi, Telugu along with dubbed Kannada, Tamil and Malayalam versions. The best part of the film was the physical transformation of the lead- Vijay Deverakonda, who gave his blood and sweat to this movie.
He played the role of a MMA fighter with Ananya as his love interest. His character is shown as a guy who has a stammering problem. He moved to Mumbai with his mother to learn MMA. The journey from being a National Champion to an International champion and what happened later is what the film is all about.
The film is getting mixed response while some fans praise the film for its good script and the performance of Vijay Deverakonda while others seem a bit disappointed. As per movie- goers, the film created much-hype before its release but what they saw on the screen was not what they expected.
Vijay’s acting and body-transformation is the plus point of the film. Apart from that, Ramya Krishnan was also great as Liger’s mother, Ananya gave a decent performance. Overall, the film is getting mixed reviews.
Popular South Indian film critic Ramesh Bala praises the film:
#Liger 1st Half : Light-hearted fun so far..@TheDeverakonda shines in all departments.. Action, Romance etc@ananyapandayy looks great.. Her songs with VD are pleasant to watch..

The reactions of other Twitter users on Liger:
Sorry @TheDeverakonda – All your hard work in to dustbin. Your stammering on screen did not work at all .
Move away from Bollywood , do proper Telugu movies , it will automatically become pan Indian projects ! #Liger

Dear @purijagan – stop being lazy, crores getting invested as people trust you.
Next time – get a bound script ready and then go to shoot. You should actually refund us the ticket cost for this torture of a movie ! #Liger

#Liger A movie that had potential to be decent is wasted by senseless writing and cringe worthy scenes!
VD tried his best and body transformation is great but his stammering is annoying. Heroine track is awful. Other than a few moments, Nothing else to mention.
Rating: 2.25/5
