Sashi Kiran Tikka’s directorial Major was opened with rave reviews from the critics and further, performing very well at the theatres, it went on to earn itself a blockbuster tag.
It is backed by south superstar Mahesh Babu and his wife Namrata Shirodkar with Anurag Reddy and Sharath Chandra under the banner G Mahesh Babu entertainment, Sony Pictures Intl. Productions and A+S Movies.
Major is a bilingual film, filmed in Telugu and Hindi and released in three languages Hindi, Telugu and dubbed version Malayalam. The film got positive feedback from the audience during the pre-screenings of the film previewed in various cities of India.
Box Office Collection Worldwide
Further, the positive word of mouth struck gold for the makers of the film as ‘Major’ completed its theatrical run by collecting over Rs 65 Cr at the box office worldwide, which is a huge feat considering it is a moderate budget film.
Pre-release Business & Break-Even Target
As per the Tollywood BO tracker, T2B live, the worldwide pre-release business of the film was valued Rs 18 Cr. The break-even target was set at Rs 19 Cr which the film had fetched in its opening weekend itself. As per T2B, it earned a profit of Rs 14.35 Cr in its whole theatrical run and was considered a blockbuster at the box office.
About The Film
It is based on the life of Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan who attained martyrdom during the 2008 Mumbai attacks. It stars Adivi Sesh portraying the character of Major. Prakash Raj, Sobhita Dhulipala, Saiee Manjrekar, Revathi and Murali Sharma play pivotal roles. The audience showered their love for the film at the theatres, it recently saw its digital debut on Netflix.

Sashi Kiran Tikka helmed the film and it is written by Adivi Sesh. The Telugu dialogues of the film are written by Abburi Ravi and Hindi Akshat Ajay. On the technical front, Vamsi Patchipulusu handled the cinematography, Vinay Kumar Sirigineedi, and Kodati Pavan Kalyan has done the editing and it is Sricharan Pakala musical. Sony Pictures Releasing is the distributors.
