Directed and written by debutante Sai Kiran, the Telugu horror drama film Masooda has been released on the big screen and is garnering positive reviews from critics and moviegoers.

The film stars Sangitha, Thiruveer, and Bandhavi Sridhar in lead roles, with Kavya Kalyanram, Subhalekha Sudhakar, Akhila Ram, Satyam Rajesh, Satya Prakash, Surya Rao, Surabhi Prabhavathi, Krishna Teja, and Karthik Adusumilli in supporting roles.

The plot of the film revolves around Nazia and her mother Neelam, who are living a normal middle class life and have also maintained a good relationship with their neighbour Gopi Krishna, who is a software engineer.

Things start taking a different turn when Nazia begins to behave in a very strange and unusual way, which leaves Neelam and Gopi in utter shock. Observing her behaviour, Gopi tells Neelam that Nazia is possessed by an evil spirit. How Gopi helps Neelam tackle this situation and bring Nazia back to normal, is the crux of the story.

Produced by Swadharm Entertainment Pvt. Ltd., the film was released on November 18, 2022, on big screens and had a direct BO clash with films like Gaalodu, Love Today, Play, and others. It started with excellent word of mouth and has been growing right from the first show, with all praises for the performances of the star cast.

The second half of the movie was its backbone, as this is where the actual mystery unfolds.

Masooda minted Rs. 77 lakh in Telugu states on its opening day. With a growth of 30%, it went on to earn Rs. 92 lakh on the second day, and with a growth of 35–40%, it earned Rs. 1.48 lakh on Sunday. On Monday, the collection dropped to Rs. 70 lakh, but that couldn’t stop it from being the 17th clean hit Telugu movie of 2022.

Meanwhile, Masooda’s post-streaming rights are one of the highly anticipated topics among movie lovers. As per reports, the makers of the film are in talks with the two leading OTT platforms, Disney+Hotstar and Amazon Prime Video, to seal the deal. They are yet to announce their official OTT partner.
