After receiving critical acclaim in several prestigious International film festivals, actor-filmmaker Prakash Jha’s film Matto ki Saikil, a slice-of-life film, is set to win audiences’ hearts on the big screen soon.

Prakash Jha’s banner Prakash Jha Films is presenting the film and it is helmed by M Gani, known for directing short film Gubbare (2021). Gani got lots of appreciation for his directorial work in Matto Ki Saikil.

Prakash Jha himself play the main lead or the film Matto, a daily wage worker. Jha’s portrayal as Matto won touches the hearts of everyone. Along with him, the film also stars Anita Chowdhary, Dimpy Mishra, Aarohi Sharma, Idhika Roy, CPS Sharma and Aayan Madar in crucial roles.

Matto Ki Saikil Release Date

The makers of this masterpiece film are now ready to release it in theaters and September 16, 2022 has been confirmed as the date of its theatrical release. Shot in Uttar Pradesh’s Mathura, the film will be distributed by PVR Pictures.

The film also premiered in the prestigious film festival- 25th Busan International Film Festival as well as had its US premiere at the 17th South Asian International Film Festival (SAIFF) in 2020.

The film is produced by Sudhirbhai Mishra under the banner of Shivdena Films. Chandan Kowli has cranked the camera for it while Kamesh Karn handled the editing work. Wayne Sharpe has composed its music, Priyankar Basu handled South designing and UDAI Prakash Singh handled the Production designing. 

The first poster of the film features Prakash Jha as Matto on a cycle with his daughter. 

Matto Ki Saikil Trailer Out

Along with the film’s release date and first look, the makers also dropped the trailer of the film on August 22, 2022 and it has more than 8 lakh views on YouTube so far. The nearly 3 minute long trailer shows the struggle of daily wage labourer, Matto, who works really hard for the livelihood of his wife and 2 daughters.

Everyday, he takes a long distance journey to the city as a construction worker on his cycle, which is his most loved and important asset. The cycle is heavily worn out after riding for almost 2 decades. Despite that it is very dear to Matto. One fine day, it was run over by a tractor and Matto felt heartbroken as it was the only vehicle of his daily updown and was also attached to him and his family.

The trailer shows the daily struggle of daily wage workers and how much injustice and struggle they experience every day.
