“Minions: The Rise of Gru” or “Minions 2” serves as the sequel of the 2015 spinoff prequel Minions and the 5th installment in the Despicable Me franchise. It received rave reviews from the critics and the audience alike and took a stupendous start at the box office.
The animated comedy currently stands at the 4 number in the list of the highest-grossing film of 2022. However, it performed below par at the Indian box office clocking in just 12.62 crores at the end of its theatrical run.

Box Office Collection Worldwide
It has been almost three months since it hit the cinemas worldwide, and the animated comedy still churning out moolah week in and week out. It draws in another $1.5M in the 13th weekend for $365.5M, domestically.
The worldwide figures for the movie stand at $920M (INR 7487 crores approx) which consists of $365.5M (INR 2974 crores approx) domestically and $554.5M (INR 4512 crores approx) internationally.
Will it surpass the Doctor Strange 2 Lifetime?
Minions Rise of Gru has already crossed the International biz of Doctor Strange 2 ($544M), but the former trails far behind the latter in the domestic market. Doctor Strange 2 domestic collections stand at $411M and the Minions 2 is around $46M away to topple its biz there.

Strange 2 is currently the third highest grossing film of 2022, worldwide with $955M, and Minions needs to mint $35M more to beat the former’s bizz which will become an uphill task for the film as it is on its ending run.
Minions 2 Box Office India
Minions 2 had decent Thursday previews in India, from where it minted Rs 84 L, the film clocked in Rs 4.77 crores including paid previews in the first weekend, making the total 1st-week collections to Rs 6.97 crores. Overall Minions 2 performed below par at the Indian box office considering the huge hit it has become worldwide. It wrapped up its lifetime at Rs 12.62 crores in India.
