Musical School is an upcoming bilingual musical film, which is shot in Hindi and Telugu languages, extensively in Hyderabad and Goa. It is directed and written by Papa Rao Biyyala, known for directing the 1999 short film “Willing to Sacrifice”.

The film, backed by director Papa Rao Biyyala’s Hyderabad based production banner Yamini Films, features actor Sharman Joshi and Shriya Saran in the lead roles. Sharman is known for his roles in movies like Rang De Basanti, Golmaal and 3 Idiots.
On the other hand, Shriya Saran has appeared in many Bollywood and South Indian films such as Drishyam, Santosham, Sivaji: The Boss among others. Additionally, the film also stars Shaan, Prakash Raj, Suhasini Mulay, Benjamin Gilani, Gracy Goswami, and Ozu Barua, Vinay Varma in prominent roles.
About the Film’s Music
The film is created by legendary maestro Ilaiyaraaja, who has written all 11 songs of this project. Hollywood choreographer Adam Murray who has credits includes The King’s Man, Creulla and Rocketman has choreographed 11 songs of the film. Indian choreographers Chinni Prakash and Raju Sundram are also onboard.
Out of the 11 songs of the musical, three songs named “Do Re Mi”, “I am 16 Going on 17” and “So Long, Farewell” are from the Oscar award winning and much-loved classic. Legendary music maestro Ilaiyaraaja was recently in Budapest to record with the Budapest Symphony Orchestra and give finishing to the music and background score of Music School. The film has cinematographic work by Kiran Deohans.

About the Film
It is a heart warming and enduring film which is about two contemporary and creative teachers, Mary D’ Cruz and Manoj who provide a glimpse of the rich culture and refinement of music and theater to students who are driven by an unimaginative educational system in the name of Math, Science and Technology.
Music School Release Date
The film will be screened on 12 and 18 September 2022 in the industry/ market section at Toronto International Film Festival. It is expected to be released on November 11, 2o22 in cinemas.
