Kollywood megas Dhanush starrer Naane Varuven is an upcoming Tamil action thriller, which is written as well as directed by filmmaker and Dhanush’s elder brother Selvaraghavan.
The film marks the fourth collaboration between Dhanush and the director after romantic drama Kaadhal Kondein (2003), crime action film Pudhupettai (2006) and musical drama film Mayakkam Enna (2011).
Selvaraghavan’s last directorial venture was 2021 horror film Nenjam Marappathillai, produced by Escape Artists Motion Pictures and GLO Studios, starring S.J. Suryah, Nandita Swetha and Regina Cassandra.
Naane Varuven is produced by Kalaipuli S. Thanu under the banner of V Creations while it has cinematography and editing by Om Prakash and Prasanna GK.
Yuvan Shankar Raja has composed the music and background score and he is collaborating for the 6th time with Dhanush after Maari 2, Yaaradi Nee Mohini, Pudhupettai, Kandhal Kondein, Pudhukottaiyilirundhu Saravanan and Thulluvadho Ilamai.
Naane Varuven Star Cast
Dhanush is the lead actor in the film and the fans will see him playing a cowboy while playing the double roles, one, as a protagonist and other as an antagonist.
The actor’s last two films; directed Anannd L. Rai’s Hindi romantic movie Atrangi Re and Karthik Naren’s Tamil action movie Maaran, both had direct premieres on Disney+Hotstar. While the first one was praised by the audience, the latter was heavily criticized in every aspect.
The film’s director Selvaraghavan will also feature in the screen and it will be the first time he will be sharing the screen space with his brother Dhanush.
Selva is currently busy working on his upcoming Tamil movie Saani Kaayidham, which will mark his acting debut along with Keerthy Suresh. Naane Varuven will also feature Indhuja and actor-comedian Yogi Babu in important roles.
Naane Varuven Release Date & Teaser
Dhanush confirmed the official release date of the movie, it was expected to be released in Sep 2022, before they tease Dhanush’s fans with psychological thriller teaser, he is in double role as teaser shows.

The film was announced on January 14, 2021 with the title Naane Varuven, which was tentatively titled as D42. Further, the filming began on Oct 16, 2021 and is still under production as the next schedule of the film had already started in Ooty on February 16, 2022.

Director Selvaraghavan on Friday, March 25, 2022, dropped the super exciting poster of the movie, which has been circulating all over social media since then.
The poster features the actor donning a clean-shaven younger look smoking a cigarette while relaxing on a chair.

Another poster which was also unveiled the same day, features Dhanush in a trippy avatar donning a Purple-colored shirt. The poster reads “Final Stage of Shooting”.
