OTT giant Disney+ Hotstar will soon deliver the new crime thriller series titled ‘National Treasure: Edge of the History’, which is the debut series of the National Treasure franchise.
The franchise includes two theatrical releases, directed by Jon Turteltaub titled “National Treasure” and “Treasure: Book of Secrets” (2007). Both films featured Nicolas Cage as the male lead.
It also includes a Book series of historical fictional novels, comprising six novels, written by Catherine Hapka and Published by Disney Press.
The future projects of the franchise are under development which includes its third untitled (tentatively National Treasure 3) film and the upcoming web series, which will soon be released.

National Treasure Star Cast
To expand the franchise, in May 2021, the series was announced by Jerry Bruckheimer, who stated that it will feature a young star cast.
- Lisette Alexis is playing the lead role as Jess Morales
- Oscar-winning actress Zeta-Jones will play a notorious billionaire, Billie, who is a black-market antiquities expert and treasure hunter and lives life by her own code
- Lyndon Smith will play Ross, an FBI agent
- Zuri Reed as Jess’s best friend, Tasha
- Jake Austin as Liam
- Antonio Cipriano as Oren
- Jordan Rodrigues as Ethan
National Treasure Makers
The series is bankrolled by Jerry Bruckheimer and is a joint-venture between Jerry Bruckheimer and ABC Signature. It is written by husband-wife duo Cormac and Marianne Wibberley, popularly known as The Wibberleys, who are also serving as creators as well as executive producers of the series.
The pilot episode of the series will be directed by an Indian American filmmaker Mira Nair who is best known for her directing movies such as Mississippi Masala, Kama Sutra: A Tale of Love, The Namesake, Monsoon Wedding, and Salaam Bombay!
Jon Turteltaub, who directed the previous two films of the franchise, is said to be the director of the rest of the episodes. He is also serving as one of the executive producers of the series.
National Treasure Plot
The story of the series revolves around a 20-year-old girl Jess (Lisette Alexis), who goes on a journey to discover the mystery of her family’s history and to save a lost historical treasure with the help of her friends.
National Treasure Release Date
It will comprise 10 exciting episodes, save the date ’14 Dec 2022′ for this exciting. The makers revealed the first look of this upcoming web series on March 11, 2022.
It introduced the young star cast Lisette Alexis, Zuri Reed, Jordon Rodrigues, and Antonio Cipriano, the new generation of Puzzle-solving hunters.
