Tamil Nadu Govt. to Inquire Surrogacy
On one hand, fans, who are really surprised by this development are going ga-ga over this news, it has also sparked controversy as the TN government has now announced it will look into this matter.
Tamil Nadu’s Health Minister Ma Subramanian said at a press conference on Monday that the government of Tamil Nadu will conduct an inquiry over this, as surrogacy itself is a subject of debate. However, the law allows individuals to be involved in surrogacy if they are above 21 and below 36 years of age.
He also announced that he would direct the Directorate of Medical Services to conduct the inquiry.
Why This Matter Has Sparked Controversy?
There is nothing wrong in opting for surrogacy as there are many Indian actors, who became parents via surrogacy, but the question is being raised over whether Nayanthara and Vignesh followed procedures stipulated by the Indian surrogacy law.
This has become a hot topic because commercial surrogacy is banned in India and the criterion is that the surrogate should be at least married once and should have her own child.
According to the latest surrogacy regulation bill, which came into effect on January 25, 2022, apart from the surrogate’s medical expenses and the insurance cover, no other charges will be paid by the intending parents.
