The Academy Awards ceremony, popularly known as Oscar Awards or the Oscar ceremony is considered as one of the biggest nights for Cinema around the world.
It is oldest among the four major annual American entertainment awards; The Emmy Awards, which is given for television, the Tony Awards for theaters and the Grammy Awards for music.
The Oscar are regarded as the most prestigious and significant awards in the entertainment industry worldwide and are awarded for artistic and technical merit in the film industry.
The awards are given by the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) and are an international recognition of excellence in cinematic achievements, as assessed by Academy’s voting membership.
The first Oscar or first Academy Awards were presented in 1929 at a private dinner hosted by Douglas Fairbanks in the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel.
This year the world will celebrate the 94th edition of the Academy Awards, which is going to be special as the event will be free from the COVID-19 restrictions such as social distancing and mask wearing etc.

Usually, the ceremony used to be held in February-end and March beginning, but this year was delayed due to the pandemic.
Oscars 2022 Ceremony Date and Time
The 94th Academy Awards ceremony will take place at Dolby theater, Los Angeles, United States of America on March 27, 2022 at 5 PM as per Eastern Time and at 8 PM as per Pacific Time and will be telecast on Monday, March 28.
Oscars 2022 Where & When to Watch?
The UK viewers will be able to watch the full broadcast on the dedicated Sky Cinema Oscar Channel at 1 AM while in India it will be aired at 5:30 in the morning on March 28. The award ceremony will be aired on Star World and Star Movies at 6:30 AM.

Finally, after a gap of three years, this year will once again have hosts but this time it won’t be one person hosting the event, instead, the academy picked three women comedians to host the Oscar 2022 show and these are Amy Schumer, Wanda Sykes and Regina Hall.

Many well-known Hollywood celebrities will perform at the Oscar Awards event that will be held on March 27 at Los Angeles, USA.
The viewers of the 94th Academy Awards will witness the power-packed performances of Beyonce, Sebastian Yatra, Reba McEntire, Billie Eilish.
In addition, an all-star band including Travis Barker, Sheila E., pianist Robert Glasper and the evening’s music director Adam Blackstone will rock the event.
Indian Films Shortlisted for the Oscar Awards 2022
Kollywood actor Suriya’s acclaimed court-room drama thriller Jai Bhim and Mohanlal’s epic war film Marakkar are among the 276 films which are shortlisted for the 94th Oscar Awards, however, the films didn’t make it to the nomination list.
Meanwhile, Jane Campion’s psychological drama film titled The Power of Dog bagged 12 nominations in major categories including Best Picture, Best director, Best actor, Best adapted screenplay and Denis Villeneuve’s science fiction film titled Dune bagged 10 nominations.
Indian documentary film titled Writing with Fire, which is helmed by Rintu Thomas and Sushmit Ghosh has also been selected in the Best Documentary Figure category.
