The August month of this year brought a lot to make all the cinephiles happy as many much-awaited films were released both theatrically and on OTT. On one side big ticket movies like Laal Singh Chaddha, Rakshabandhan and Liger graced the theatres and turned-out-to-be biggest disappointment, Telugu film Karthikeya 2 just made it to the hearts of people even in Hindi belt as well.
The month is near to its end and still many exciting shows and movies are ready to grace the OTT. Whether a thriller, action or romance or suspense, all types of content is yet to be released.
Talking about this week, many acclaimed web-shows have already been released and many are yet to come on OTT. Here we have compiled the names of most awaited OTT releases of this week (August 22-28):
1- Maharani 2
Promising actors Huma Qureshi and Sohum Shah starrer acclaimed drama series Maharani has come back with its second season on August 25, 2022 on Sony LIV. The plot of the series is inspired by the life journey of Rabri Devi, the wife of former Bihar CM Lalu Prasad Yadav.
In the series Sohum played Bihar’s CM Bheema Bharti whereas Huma played his wife Rani Bharti, whose journey from having been a homemaker to Bihar CM is the focus of the story. The first season of the series was directed by Karan Sharma while the season 2 is helmed by Ravindra Gautam.
2- Criminal Justice Season 3
Our favourite Pankaj Tripathi is back as advocate Madhav Mishra with crime thriller legal drama series Criminal Justice Season 3, which has graced the OTT platform Disney+Hotstar today, August 26, 2022. It also stars Vikrant Massey, Anupriya Goenka, Mita Vashisht in key roles.
The series bankrolled by Applause Entertainments, was premiered in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam dubbed versions along with Hindi version. This season tells the story of Juvenile justice.
3- Delhi Crimes Season 2
The series enjoys an IMDb rating of 8.5/10 and has a strong cast which also includes Shefali Shah, Rashika Duggal, Yashaswini Dayama, Adil Hussain and others. The first seasons bagged the Emmy Awards of the Best Drama and also became the first Indian show to win the award for Outstanding Drama Series.
Its second season started streaming on Netflix from August 26, 2022. The series is based on some real life incidents highlighting the killings perpetrated by Delhi’s notorious “Kachchha Baniyan Gang”.
4- HIT: The First Case
Rajkummar Rao starrer HIT: The First Cast, which had its theatrical release on July 15 this year, is set to have its post theatrical OTT release on August 28, 2022 on Sony LIV. The film is the Hindi remake of the acclaimed Telugu action thriller of the same name.
Directed by Sailesh Kolanu, the film also stars actress Sanya Malhotra in the female lead role. It is jointly produced by Bhushan Kumar, Dil Raju, Krishan Kumar and Kuldeep Rathore.
5- Me Time
The Netflix original film comedy film headlines by Kevin Hart and Mark Wahlbeg has graced the platform on August 26, 2022. It is written and directed by John Hamberg and produced by Hartbeat Productions.
It tells the story of a devoted stay at home father who, while away from his wife and kids, finally has his dream time with his best friend and the two embark on a wild adventure they are never going to forget.
