Mollywood filmmaker Kamal KM will soon be arriving in cinemas worldwide with his much-talked-about crime drama Pada, inspired by a true event that came about in the year 1996 in the Palakkad district, Kerala.
Kamal directorial set in the backdrop of 1996 when the then Kerala govt amended a tribal bill in the legislative assembly, which is said to be depriving the Adivasis of their own land.
A group of people called Ayyankali Pada decides to take on the govt and in order to do so, they held hostage the DM of Palakad district in his own office. Their demand was the withdrawal of the Adivasi bill that was passed in the assembly.
The name Ayyankali Pada derives from the legendary social reformer of Kerala state named Ayyankali, who fought the caste apartheid in the state. He was the contemporary of Dr. B.R Ambedkar.
Theatrical & OTT Release Date
Recently, the censor board passed Pada with a U/A certificate, the film was earlier slated to release on March 10, Makers recently pushed back the release date by a day, later Pada was released in cinema halls on 11 March 2022, soon (30th Marh 2022) on Amazon Prime.

Digital & Satellite Premiere
The post-theatrical digital and Satellit Rights of the film are acquired by the streaming service Amazon Prime Video and the Malayalam entertainment Channel Surya TV respectively.
Reportedly, Pada to see its digital debut on Amazon Prime Video after 4 weeks of theatrical run on 30th March, and Tv premiere after 8 weeks stay in theatres though the official announcement regarding the digital and Tv premiere date is yet awaited.
Star Cast of Pada
Kamal KM has reportedly done extensive research on the story, and also roped in a talented multi-star cast, It features Kunchacko Boban (Rakesh Kangangad), Vinayakan (Balu Kallar), Joju George (Aravindan Mannur), Dileesh Pothan (Narayanakutty).
Prakash Raj (N. Rajasekharan), Shine Tom Chacko, Arjun Radhakrishnan (Ajay Sripad Dange), Kani Kusruti, Indrans (Kannan Mundoor), Unnimaya Prasad (Mini K.S.), James Eliya, Jagadish, Shankar Ramakrishnan, Gopalan, and Kannan Nayar in pivotal roles. Tollywood actor Mammootty is said to be appearing in a cameo role in the film.
Pada Makers
Pada is written and directed by Kamal KM and produced by Mukesh R Mehta, AV Anoop and CV Sarathi under the banner E4 Entertainment in association with AVA Productions. On the technical front, Sameer Thahir lensed the camera, the editing is done by Shan Mohammad and Vishnu Vijay is the music composer.
