The epic period action film Ponniyin Selvan or PS1 took an earth-shattering start at the box office worldwide. It is now heading for a stupendous opening weekend considering the excellent advance bookings of the movie.
Ponniyin Selvan revolves around the Chola Empire and is based on Kalki Krishnamurthy’s 1995 novel of the same name which has a cult following and is considered one of the greatest historical fiction.
The movie is consist of two parts, the first part of the flick has been released in cinemas worldwide in multiple languages and the second part will be released next year.

Box Office Collection Day 2
Now, as per the trade reports, it adds another 25 crores+ at its cash registers, to take the total day 2 collections over 50 crores gross in TN.
It is performing very well at the box office in Telugu as well. The breakeven target of the flick is set at Rs 10.50 crores there and it is expected to emerge as a clean hit within the first week itself in AP-TG. So far, it has recovered Rs 5.18 crores distributor’s shares from there.
Talking about the Box office Hindi, it rakes in Rs 2-2.5 crore on the second day to take the total Hindi collections in the vicinity of 5 crores nett, as per the early trade estimations.

The magnum opus had a fantabulous opening day at the box office worldwide. It took a start of over Rs 25 crores at the box office in the home market (Tamil Nadu). It is estimated to have netted Rs 2 crores in the Hindi version to become the highest grosser since the 2.0 release for a Tamil film in the Hindi belt.

The movie also becomes the all-time biggest opener in Australia for a Tamil movie. It breached the Master’s day 1 record of 283K Australian dollars by minting 427 K AUD. Not only this, along with India, it debuts no.1 in UAE, GCC, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, and Singapore.
PS1 Advance Bookings Report Day 2
PS1 had a fantastic advance for day 1, and the trend is flat on the second day as well. It has collected over Rs 15 crores from the ticket sales in advance for day 2. It collects most Rs 13.23 crores in the Tamil version, followed by Telugu Rs 1.27 Cr, Hindi Rs 57 Lakhs and Malayalam Rs 25 Lakhs.
