Bollywood’s Khiladi Akshay Kumar has many project line-ups this year. One of the most- awaited projects was the historical action drama Samrat Prithviraj which opened with mixed reviews from the critics and the viewers alike.
Samrat Prithviraj is based on the life of the great Rajput king of the Chahamana (Chauhan) Dynasty, popularly known as Chahamanas of Shakambhari or Chauhans of Sambhar, and the last Hindu Emperor of Akhand Bharat (United India) Prithviraj Chauhan.
Prithviraj Chauhan ruled most of the part of North India (present-day Rajasthan, Haryana, and Delhi) from 1178 to 1192 CE.
Akshay Kumar who is known for doing patriotic movies plays the role of the great king Prithviraj Chauhan. This big banner film was expected to be the highest-grossing film of this year but failed to get success, Akshay Kumar has more expensive projects in a row, hope he will make a nice comeback soon.
Prithviraj Digital Streaming Rights
The over-the-top streaming rights of the film have been acquired by streaming giant Amazon Prime Video. Akki’s this war drama struggled at Box Office. The big-budget film did a lifetime business of Rs 67.80 Cr at the box office, Samrat Prithviraj is now all set to appear on the OTT platform on 1 July 2022. It will be made available in all three languages Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.

Prithviraj Release Date & Production
Shooting/filming of this historic drama began on November 15, 2019, in Jaipur, Rajasthan but had to stop during March 2020 due to the coronavirus lockdown in India.
After seven months it again started at Yash Raj Films Studio in October 2020 and it was announced for theater release on November 17, 2020, but later got postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
After rescheduling the release-date multiple times, the film was finally ready for its theatrical release on January 21, 2022, in 2D and IMAX but again got postponed due to the rise of the Omicron variant in India, finally released on 3rd June 2022.
Prithviraj Star Cast
Along with Akshay Kumar, Miss World 2017 Mansuhi Chhillar is making her Bollywood debut with this film and will be playing the role of Prithviraj Chauhan’s wife Sanyogita, the daughter of the King of Kannauj Jaichand.
Apart from the leading star cast, these stars will also be seen in pivotal roles in the film.

Teaser & Trailer
The one-minute-long teaser of this film was released on November 15, 2021, and got a mixed response from the fans. While some praised Akshay Kumar for him never seen before the character of a great warrior of India, some criticized the teaser for Akshay’s poor looks, application, and poor VFX quality, same happened with trailer.
Prithviraj Makers
The film is helmed as well as written by Chandraprakash Dwivedi, who is best known for directing the 1991 Indian Television historic drama series Chanakya.
He had already completed the script of this historic drama in 2010 and his first choice for the role of Prithviraj and Sanyogita was Sunny Deol and Aishwarya Rai, respectively, but later he dropped the project because no production house was interested in it.
Later in 2018, the film finally got the producer as popular Indian director Aditya Chopra under the banner of his own production house Yash Raj Films. If we talk about technical work, cinematography and editing are done by Manush Nandan and Aarif Sheikh, respectively.
The film has the background score and music by the composer duo Sanchit Balhara and Ankit Balhara while it has the songs sung by popular Indian composer trio Shankar-Ehsan-Loy.
