Chandraprakash Dwivedi’s historical film Samrat Prithviraj was released on the big screens on Friday. The film starring Akshay Kumar in the role of the legendary king of India Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan.
Samrat Prithviraj is directed as well as written by Chandraprakash Dwivedi, Aditya Chopra produced the film under the banner Yash Raj Films. Along with Akshay, it features Sanjay Dutt, Sonu Sood, Manushi Chillar, Ashutosh Rana and Sakshi Tanwar.
Manush Chillar is making her Hindi film debut through Prithviraj, it is Akki’s widest release film and also the costliest one. Chandraprakash Dwivedi has waited for 15 yrs for this big-screen spectacle and his dream comes true today. Screen Count
The film was released on 4950 screens worldwide, 1200 screens in overseas and over 3750 screens in Hindi, the Tamil and Telugu screen counts are 200 collectively.
Advance Bookings
Till Thursday morning the film has sold 17000 tickets in the top multiplex chains PVR, Inox and Cinepolis, which is lower than that of Karthik’s BB2 advance sales. BB2 had sold around 45,000 tickets at the same properties on Thursday. Prithviraj’s advance bookings are less than half of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2.
Tax-Free
Earlier Uttar Pradesh C.M Yogi Adityanath had declared the film tax-free in the state, following this Madhya Pradesh govt. and now Uttarakhand govt. tax-exempted the film.
Box Office Collection Day 1
Samrat Prithviraj collected Rs 10.50 Cr+ on Day 1, which is lower than Akshay’s last outing Bachchan Paandey (Rs 13.25 Cr), and Karthik’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’s Rs 14.11 Cr.

Though the film performed below the expectations on the opening day, it saw a surge in the footfalls post 3 pm. It has a low-key buzz, and the general audience’s curiosity about the film could propel its box office business.
Prithviraj is expected to see an increase in the footfalls on the further two days of the weekend, the opening weekend of the film would be over 35 Cr+.
