Chandraprakash Dwivedi’s directorial after starting slow at the box office sees a steady pace from day 2 onwards. The film was opened with negative to positive responses from the critics.

The Times of India and Filmfare gave the film 3.5 out of 5 stars, News 18 gave 3/5, and India Today rated it 2.5/5, they praised the performance and the direction of the film while Pinkvilla, Koimoi, The Indian Express, and NDTV panned the film for the same, they gave the film on an average of 2 out of 5 stars.
However, Prithviraj despite the tremendous hype around the film and immense promotion done by the Yash Raj banner, had failed to charm the cinephiles on day 1. Performing below the expected figures, it collected only Rs 10.7 Cr on Friday.
On day 2 the film saw a positive trend at the box office, with a growth of 17 % compared to the prior day, it collected Rs 12.60 Cr on Saturday taking the total collections to over Rs 23 crore.
Now going by the early reports, Akshay starrer again sees the jump on Sunday, it collects Rs 13.20 Cr on Day 3 to take the total opening weekend collections over Rs 36.20 Cr.

Considering, the film is made on a high budget, it still needs a lot to called itself a breakeven venture. But the not-so-positive trend going on, it seems it will see its final collections somewhere around Rs 75 crores.
