Khiladi Akshay Kumar’s upcoming movie is based on the life of one of the legendary kings and Warriors of India, Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan.
This movie is directed by known film director, and scriptwriter Chandraprakash Dwivedi, who is best known for his epic TV serial Chanakya (1991) to which he directed as well acted as the main lead. He has also written the movie.
Akshay Kumar and Miss World 2017 Manushi Chillar will be the main lead actor-actress pair in the movie. The budget is said to be Rs. 300 crores for the film.

The music has been composed in the film by Shankar-Ehsan-Loy Jodi, who are the winners of several accolades including the National Film Awards, Filmfare Award, and IIFA. Aditya Chopra is the producer.

It will be Manushi Chillar’s debut movie in all three movies she has signed with the YRF production company, she will next appear as a lead actress with Vicky Kaushal in a Vijay Krishna Acharya directorial. She was the winner of Miss World 2017.
According to Wikipedia page, Chandraprakash Dwivedi had completed the film’s script in 2010, his first choice as a main lead actor & actress was Sunny Deol and Aishwarya Rai but due to date issues of Deol’s, Production houses didn’t take interest in the film.
After struggling for many years Chandraprakash finally got the Producers as Yash Raj Banner came to their rescue in 2018.
New Title
Recently Makers changed the title of the film, earlier it was only being called Prithviraj, now after facing rage from the people of India, the makers now changed the title to Samrat Prithviraj.
Prithviraj Controversies
The film was earlier in the controversy when it was first announced by the banner YRF, then Karni Sena showed resentment against the film, after knowing that Chandraprakash Dwivedi had written the film the matter was solved. But the film found itself again in controversy in June 2021.
The Akhil Bharatiya Kshatriya Mahasabha have shown strong resentment against the film and demanded the title change of the film, their other demand was to show the film to them before releasing it in theatres, so as they confirm that there is no misinterpretation of history being done in the film.
Prithviraj Release Date & Trailer
Production Company Yash Raj Films released the motion poster on 8 Sept 2019 and announced that the movie will premiere during Diwali in the year 2021 but COVID-19 ruined their plan. Save the date ‘3rd of Jun 2022’ for big screens.
The teaser of this epic love story of India’s fearless warrior was released, the teaser starts with the powerful voiceover depicting the war scene Abhimanyu Singh’s, Prithviraj’s (Akshay) force is all set to fight against the cruel invader Muhammad Ghori’s force.
Further, we can see the glimpse of Kaka Kanha (Sanjay Dutt) and Chand Bardai (Sonu Sood), & the beloved wife of the king Prithviraj, Sanyogita (Manushi Chillar). The Back Ground Score and the visuals are perfect and also being liked by the audience, The teaser ends with Prithviraj’s dialogue ” Dharm Ke Liye Jiya Hoon, Dharm Ke Liye Marunga”.
