The multi-starrer Tamil release “Ponniyin Selvan: Part One” is currently dominating the box office across all quarters. The flick recently surpassed the Baahubali and Vishawasam home market biz to become the second highest-grossing film in Tamil Nadu.
It is now eying to cross the Ulganayagan’s mid-2022 release “Vikram” which is at the first spot in the list with a huge 190 crores + gross. PS1 needs around 13 crores more to overtake Vikram’s biz in TN which it is certain to surpass by the second weekend.

Box Office Collection Day 12
Ponniyin Selvan clocked in 1.58 crores from the advance bookings for day 12. It is the first time since the release of the movie, it recorded below 1L ticket sales. It sold 92000+ tickets worth Rs 1.58 crores, of which Rs 1.32 crores+ came in from Tamil, 14L from Telugu and 7.8L from the Hindi version.
However, the flick is stable on the weekdays, and going by the advanced trends, it seems it will continue to remain steady till Friday and then jump on Saturday and Sunday. As per the early trade estimation, PS1 drew in around Rs 8 crores+ gross on Tuesday (Day 12), at the BO WW.
Industry tracker, Manobala Vijayan took to Twitter to announce that PS1 accumulated Rs 5.22 crores on Tue taking the total Tamil Nadu collections of the movie to 177.16 crores.

Crosses 400 Cr WW, Now Eying Vikram Lifetime
Kamal Haasan’s Vikram currently stands at no. 2 position in the list of highest-grossing Tamil movies of all-time. PS1 with Rs 408 crores+ figures is at the no. 3 spot in the list, the flick needs another 36 crores to breach past the former’s lifetime.

Ponniyin Selvan is made on a budget of 500 crores, both parts of the flick were shot simultaneously, hence the second part will reportedly hit the theatres in the summer of 2022.
The post-production work for PS2 will soon commence. Talking about the PS1, it has already created and shattered many box office records and has set the stage for part 2.
Part one will soon emerge as the 2nd highest-grossing Tamil film of all time and the highest-grossing movie in Tamil Nadu. Trade experts estimated the final collections of this magnum opus will be around 500 crores+ worldwide.
