Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus Ponniyin Selva: 1 has entered the third week and the visual spectacle is still not in the mood of slowing down. It has recently overtaken Vikram at the box office in Tamil Nadu to become the highest-grosser movie ever in TN.
The flick has now crossed the 200-crore mark in the home market (TN) to become the first-ever movie to do so. Then it will target the 500 crore mark at the box office worldwide and end its run with a 550-580 crore lifetime. The expectations have already started to mount high for the sequel.

Crosses 200 Crores in TN
Now, as per the industry tracker Manobala Vijayabalan, PS1 crossed the 200 crore feat in Tamil Nadu, his tweet reads, “Ponniyin Selvan ZOOMS past Rs 200 Cr milestone at the TN BO today (Day 17). Trade analyst Ramesh Bala on Sat (Oct 15) shared that PS1 has overtaken the TN biz of Vikram to become the highest-grosser movie in the state, of all time. The total Tn collection of PS1 stands now upwards of 200 crores. Ramesh Bala tweeted that PS1 is the best-performing movie in the UK, France, Malaysia, and Singapore in the year 2022.

The worldwide collections of Ponniyin Selvan: 1 have reached the vicinity of 435 crores gross at the box office worldwide, so far. Making it the second highest-grosser Tamil movie to date, it now only trails behind Rajinikanth’s 2point0.
Box Office Collection Day 17
It clocked in 4.55 crore from the advance bookings, of which it draws in 4.19Cr+ from Tamil alone, followed by 19L+ in Hindi, 9.67L in Telugu and 5.4L in Malayalam.
PS1 is estimated to have netted in the vicinity of 248 crores in the domestic market, the flick will now eye to cross the 250 crore mark in the domestic market, all versions. As per the early estimations, PS1 rakes in between 7-8 crores on Sunday (Day 17). It is certain to cross the 250 crore mark domestically in the coming weekdays.
