National award-winner filmmaker Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus, ” Ponniyin Selvan: Part 1″ is now officially the all-time second-highest-grossing Tamil movie. The flick has grossed 461 crores in 17 days, as per the Deadline.
PS1 was released on Sept 30th and has created and broken several box office records since then. It was opened to rave reviews from the critics and the audience alike and had taken a record-breaking start.

Box Office Collection Day 18
It draws in 77.07L from the advance bookings for its third Monday. Now, going by the trade reports, it underperformed on its 3rd Monday as the flick netted only 1.7 Cr on Day 18 in the domestic market to take its total biz a little below 250 crores. However, it is certain to cross 250 Cr mark today in India, all versions.
The worldwide BO collections of PS-1 stand at Rs 461 crores, and the next target of Ponniyin Selvan will be to cross the 500 crore mark.

Highest Grossing Tamil Film Overseas?
2point0 is the highest-grossing Tamil movie at the box office overseas. However, if excludes the China biz of Rajini’s 2.0 where Ponniyin Selvan:1 hasn’t been released yet, it is ahead of 2.0 in terms of the highest-grossing movie in the international market.

All About Ponniyin Selvan
Ponniyin Selvan is directed by the multi-national award winner filmmaker Mani Ratnam. In one of his interviews, Ratnam stated that PS is his dream project. It was intended to be a single movie but is split into two parts, with the PS-2 be releasing in Mid-2023.
It boasts of the powerhouses like Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, Jayaram, Aishwarya Lekshmi, and Sobhita Dhulipala.
