Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus PS1 has recently grossed 475 crores at the box office worldwide. It is now inching closer to entering the coveted 500 crores club at the box office, a feat that very few films have achieved this year.
It has performed very well in both the domestic as well as overseas markets. It has created and broken several records in the home market (Tamil Nadu) as well. Not only this, Ponniyin Selvan: Part One is now eying to breach past the Brahmastra lifetime domestic biz.
PS-1 needs only 6 crores to surpass the lifetime of Ranbir Kapoor starrer in the domestic market. PS-1 has already beaten the latter in terms of gross worldwide collections to emerge as one of the highest-grossing films of 2022 after KGF2 and RRR. It is already the 2nd highest-grossing Tamil movie of all time.

Box Office Collection Day 28
PS1 witnessed, its first ever below one crore earning on its 4th Friday, it clocked in 52 L on Day 22 and witnessed further growth due to Diwali festivities on Sat, Sun, and Mon. It is estimated to have collected Rs 1.4 crore & Rs 82L on its 4th Tue and Wed respectively which is more than its last Friday collections.
Going by the early trade reports, it collects around 50L on its 4th Thu (Day 28) to take the total domestic biz in the vicinity of 262 crores. The film is doing well despite multi-releases in TN, it is recording stupendous occupancy rates with fewer screen counts/shows.
PS1 has 29.56% Tamil occupancy during the morning, noon, eve and night shows, yesterday.

PS1 Box Office Collection (Domestic)
PS1 had taken a blockbuster start in the domestic market, it clocked in a huge 34 Cr nett on its first day in India, all thanks to the home market Tamil Nadu.
It draws in over 175 crores in its first week, domestically in all languages. It witnessed over 68% drop in the collection in the following week and accumulated Rs 54.85 crores. A drop of another 57% came in on the third week and it minted approximately 23.5 crores.
