Mani Ratnam’s film Ponniyin Selvan1 is now the 3rd highest-grossing Tamil film of all time, the flick has toppled Thalapathy Vijay’s Bigil, Rajini’s Enthiran and Kabali in the list, so far.
The film has been showing stupendous occupancy even on working days. It touches the double-digit figures for the straight seventh day in the home market (Tamil Nadu) which speaks volumes about its performance.

PS1 Advance Report Day 8
PS1 sold over 2.16 Lakhs tickets worth Rs 3.93 crores for day 8 (Fri), out of which 3.61 crores came in from the Tamil version alone, 12L from Telugu, 14L from Hindi, and 6L from the Malayalam version.
Therefore, the advance bookings of the flick remain steady on Friday as well and it is expected to show growth on Sat and Sun.
Box Office Tamil Nadu
The film has touched double-digit figures on its seventh day as well making the total Tamil Nadu box office collections around Rs 127-128 crores. The next target of the movie would be to cross the 150 crore mark which it is certain to cross by the second weekend.
As per the early trade estimation, it accumulated Rs 6.5-7 crores on Friday (Day 8) taking its total collections in the vicinity of 135 crores in the home market.

PS1 is the 2nd film to cross 300 crores in 2022
The worldwide collection of Ponniyin Selvan stands at 315 crores+, With this, it has become the 2nd film to touch the coveted 300 crores in 2022 after Vikram. And 4th film overall after 2.0, Vikram, and Bigil.
It breached past the lifetime of Thalapathy Vijay’s Bigil lifetime to become the 3rd highest-grossing Tamil movie of all time.
To cross the BE in Telugu states
It has already become a commercial success at the box office worldwide, the mulit-starrer is performing very well in its dubbed version as well. It has netted over 10 crores in the Hindi version and the Tamil version of the film has grossed over 15.5 crores.
The breakeven target of the film was valued at 10.5 crores and so far, it has churned out 8.35 crores shares. It now needs to recover 2.35 crores distributor’s shares to become a clean hit in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
