“Radhe Shyam,” the romantic period drama that has gained much attention in its release, had its digital premiere on Amazon Prime Video on April 1st, 2023. The film, set in a multi-language format, faced a series of delays due to the pandemic that impacted its theater debut in India, which took place on March 11, 2022.
“Radhe Shyam” stars Prabhas and Pooja Hegde in the lead roles, with both being significant figures in Indian cinema. Prabhas, known for his enormous success in Telugu cinema, and Pooja Hegde, a successful actress and model, were the headline attractions for the film. However, other cast members who graced the film include Krishnam Raju, Sachin Khedekar, and Bhagyashree.
The film is directed by Radha Krishna Kumar and produced by UV Creations. On the technical front, the film’s captivating visuals can be credited to the craftsmanship of cinematographer Manoj Paramahamsa. The heart-touching music is composed by Justin Prabhakaran, and the seamless editing is the work of Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao .
Talking about the storyline, “Radhe Shyam” spins the tale of two contrasting individuals. While Vikram Aditya, played by Prabhas, is a firm believer in fate, Prerna, portrayed by Pooja Hegde, is an ardent believer in the power of science. The intricacy of these characters against the backdrop of the romance drama format aimed to woo and captivate audiences across the globe.
One significant aspect of the film’s journey was its underperformance at the box office. Expectations were high, considering the stature of its lead actors. However, while the makers claimed an earning of Rs 200 crore, analysts have estimated the earnings to be considerably much lower.
Mixed reviews and critiques further marred the film’s reputation. Even though it was visually grand, critics had varied opinions on the storyline and execution. However, Prabhas, always the optimist, expressed his excitement about bringing the story closer to global audiences via the OTT platform.
