Singing along to musical legends’ modest hits is the perfect way to celebrate their birthdays. Rahul Dev Burman, commonly known as RD Burman or Pancham Da, was the supreme music composer who won the hearts of innumerable Indians with his distinctive and foley-inspired musical compositions.
The prototype musician was born on June 27, 1939, in Kolkata (then Calcutta), to the great composer Sachin Dev Burman.
Despite the fact that his well-known father’s celebrity gave him a lot of power, Pancham Da rapidly rose to fame for himself in the music industry.
About Pancham Da’s life
When the musical genius was nine years old, his father taught him how to write. His first song was, “Aye Meri Topi Palat Ke Aa.” The song was used in the 1956 film Funtoosh.
Burman, who is credited for introducing jazz and the electronic rock genre to Bollywood, transformed the Indian music scene with his singular ability to meld international music with his catalogue of soulful and melodic tunes. He was a successful musician who could play anything, even unusual music.
He also put forth a lot of effort, writing 331 songs including some of his most enduring tunes for his sister-in-law, the legendary Lata Mangeshkar.
The most popular Bollywood projects that RD Burman worked on was with Kishore Kumar and lyricist Anand Bakshi. The trio usually produced popular songs for Rajesh Khanna and other super hit stars movies.
