Hollywood’s two most popular actors, Dwayne Johnson, a.k.a. “The Rock,” and Chris Evans, have started production on their next project, “Red One”. Billed as an action adventure Christmas film, it is going to be directed by Jake Kasdan, who is best known for directing the acclaimed “Jumanji” franchise.
This project is seen as the first of a potential franchise reimagining holiday mythology, and has a screenplay written by Fast & Furious scribe and producer Chris Morgan, based on an original story by Hiram Gracia.
Red One Star Cast
The film stars Dwyane Johnson as Callum Drift and Chris Evans as Jack O’Malley. Johnson was last seen in the superhero film Black Adam, whereas Evans, known for his role as Captain America in many Marvel Cinematic Universe films, was last seen in the action thriller film The Gray Man, alongside Ryan Gosling.
On November 7, 2022, along with the casting and filming announcements, Dwayne Johnson also shared the picture featuring him and Chris Evans in a toy store filled to the brim with books, games, and figurines. While Johnson dons a skin-tight black and red leather jacket and pants combo, Evans is wearing a more relaxed brown and black look.

Oscar winner J.K. Simmons and Emmy nominee Bonnie Hunt are playing Santa Claus and Mr. Claus, respectively. Apart from them, the actors onboard are Kiernan Shipka, Lucy Liu, Mary Elizabeth Ellis, Nick Kroll, Kristofer Hivju, Wesley Kimmel, etc.
Red One Makers
The filming of “Red One” began in Atlanta in October 2022. The film is a joint venture between several production houses, including Seven. Bucks Productions, Amazon Studios, Amazon Prime Original Films, The Detective Agency, and Chris Morgan Productions.
The filmmakers serving as the executive producers of the Christmas franchise are Jonson, Kasdan, Morgan, Hiram Gracia, Dany Gracia, and Melvin Mar.
Red One OTT Release Date
Speaking about the film’s release, instead of having a theatrical release, it will be released directly on Amazon Prime Video, as Amazon Studios has snapped up the project in a competitive bidding war. It will be released in Christmas 2023 in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.
