Directed by Bollywood’s ace filmmaker Karan Johar, Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani is an upcoming romantic drama film. The highly-anticipated film marks the return of KJo to the chair of a director after six years.
His last directorial movie was the Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma starrer Ae Dil Hai Muskil, which was released in 2016 and was a massive hit of that time. Before that, Karan has directed many critically acclaimed films such as Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, My Name Is Khan, etc.
Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani Star Cast
The film stars actor Ranveer Singh in the lead role as Rocky and with this film he surely has high expectations as the actor is waiting for a major hit after his last two films 83 and Jayeshbhai Jordaar turned out to be a biggest failure.
Opposite him, actress Alia Bhatt will be seen playing Rani in the film. Her most recent film Gangubai Kathiawadi received an amazing response from public as well as critics with all praises for her performance in the film. It was a commercial success and said to make a business of around Rs. 210 crore in its life-time run.
Along with the lead actors, the film also marks the return of legendary veteran actors Dharmendra, Shabana Azmi and Jaya Bachchan after a long time. It also stars popular TV actors Arjun Bijlani and Shraddha Arya in the prominent roles.
The Team Announced Wrap-up of the Film
KJo, who apart from directing the film, has also backed it along with his mother Hiroo Yash Johar and Apoorva Mehta under their Dharma Productions, has announced the wrap-up of the film dropping a 1-minute long video on Monday, August 1, 2022.
Calling it a “talkie wrap”, the filmmaker announced the pack-up in the presence of entire cast and crew including Ranveer Singh, Dharmendra and Shabana Azmi, whereas, the film’s lead actress Alia Bhatt who has wrapped-up her schedule last week, joined in the team through a video call.
She couldn’t attend it physically as she is away promoting her upcoming black comedy film Darling in which she is starring alongside Shefali Shah and Vijay Varma.
In the video Ranveer Singh can be seen saying that he always wanted to be in a Karan Johar film, in a Dharma film and the little did he know was that his first Dharma film will be directed by the man himself, the boss, referring to Karan Johar.
We can see the entire team cutting cake and enjoying, laughing and having fun together. Karan Johar in the video’s caption, called the film close to him forever. The shoot of the film commenced in August 2021.
Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani Release Date
The film is set to be released theatrically in 2023. The actors of the movie shared the release date of the movie on their respective social media handles. Ranveer Singh took to Twitter and shared the poster of the movie with the release date. Ranveer Captioned it, “Kyunki it’s all about loving your family! #RockyAurRaniKiPremKahani in cinemas, 28th July 2023.”
