After performing very poorly on day 1 at the box office, the early estimate was that Ajay Devgn’s Runway 34 will soon be going to be pulled from the theatres as the film failed to charm the cinephiles.
As the film opened with mixed reviews and minted less than the expected amount on an opening day, it accumulated only Rs 3 crore on day 1, most of the collections said to be coming from the multiplexes, talking about the single screens, the film firstly didn’t find many screens owing to the other mass entertainer films KGF 2 and Heropanti 2, and the other there were not much excitement for the film in the mass circuits.
Now, As per the reports, Ajay-Amitabh starrer saw an over 50% growth compared to Friday collections and accumulated Rs 4.75 Cr, taking the two days total collections to Rs 7.75 Cr.
At the Opening the film had a tough day at the box office and faced the heat of the KGF2 juggernaut and battled with Heropanti 2 at the same time, earlier it seems the film would wrap up under Rs 15-20 Cr.
The other two films saw more collections than Runway 34, especially the monster KGF 2 which even in its third week shows more growth than these two latest releases on Friday.
But now if Ajay-Amitabh starrer continues to show growth and word of mouth comes into play for further weeks too, there is a chance for Ajay’s directorial to earn overall around Rs 40 Cr nett from the domestic market. As we said above the only thing that can save Devgn’s film is positive word of mouth, however, let’s see if the film sees any growth on Sunday or not.
Talking about Runway 34 it is directed, performed as well as produced by Ajay Devgn, it is based on real-life events of a jet airways flight in 2015, the film enjoys the big names such as Senior Bachchan, Ajay himself, Boman Irani, Rakul Preet Singh. Famous YouTuber Carryminati marked his big-screen debut through this film. It has a runtime of 148 minutes, the technical department includes Aseem Bajaj as cinematographer, Dharmendra Sharma edited the film and the music is given by Jasleen Royale and the background score by Amar Mohile.
